Sam Watters's book Houses of Los Angeles 1885-1919 has some great early shots unobstructed by vegetation. The nuns who once occupied Rosenheim's house also owned this one.... The shot above is not clear, though interesting in that it almost looks like a painting--anyway, it's the best shot I could find. Current Google views reveal almost nothing of the house behind the jungle.

The view from the street hasn't changed much since
GW's December 2011 post; this is the best I could find:

But if we travel back to the January 1918 edition of
The Architect and Engineer of California, we get a much better view of
Judson Rives' six-bedroom, four-bathroom home at 1130 Westchester Place (
Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument #661):

Here is a description of the house:

This is the building permit for the house:

The BP for the garage is dated August 4, 1913:

Let's look inside the house:

1130 Westchester Place is just to the right of bottom center in this 1948 aerial view:

The Sisters of Social Service, who occupied 1120 Westchester Place next door, took over 1130 in 1946. This
article says they
were willed the "Reeves" mansion. In 1954 they built a structure on the south side of the grounds, along 12th Street:

Perhaps at some point the sisters took additional security measures as well:

We can see what was built in 1954 in this 2016 GoogleEarth view; again, 1130 is just to the right of bottom center:
1130 Westchester Place was sold in 1999 and today seems to be the home of
The Descartes Institute. Below, along the bottom,
1120 Westchester Place is on the left, and 1130 is on the right.
