There were news a few weeks ago about China planning to build the tallest skyscraper in the world in Wuhan, it's called "Phoenix towers" if I remember well. It doesn't look so realistic on the concept pictures (sorts of pink organic towers) but you know China has an endless ambition when it deals with architecture so I guess they will actually build it.

However I'm wondering if this project ("Phoenix towers") is scheduled to be completed after the Kingdom Tower or before. I mean, will the Kingdom Tower be indeed the tallest skyscraper in the world for a few years, at least?

Construction time of the KT was said to be 65 months, and that has already started.
But we do not know if these 65 months will really be kept as planning. It is ambitious.

65 months -> 5.5 years
1000m -> ~180m/year
Difficult but possible...

Point 1 in this article summarizes...

Believe the change was something to do with winds and building proximity at that altitude..

So it was originally going to be a helipad, but now it will be an outdoor observation deck 2000+ feet up? Nice.

Tried scanning numerous pages but didn't see it. First post could use some updating.

Can someone post what the floor plate sizes are going to be? It seems quite narrow telling by the persons walking in the middle/core.

Thanks!
G.
