Downtown seems to be a bit too close to the Vulcan on soco. Maybe the east side could really do with an I Luv Video. East 11th preferably.

I'm betting, though, that isn't the lighting design for the building. Weren't they going to have that dancing on wires act on the building?

Can't wait for those restaurants to open on the ground floor! I forget the name, but downtown needs some good Chinese!

This is what the lighting is for. Sunday night, I was returning home from the airport around midnight and they were hanging from the side of the building.

Austin Office Space: More Supply, Less Demand? Guess Again

Austin's Preleased Buildings Mean New Construction Isn't Expected to Add Much Available Office Space

AUSTIN, Texas—Even with nearly 750,000 square feet of office space under construction in downtown Austin, the area's occupancy rate is poised to increase under intense demand from tenants in a variety of industries.

"When all the buildings that are under construction deliver, the occupancy rate will actually go up, because of the preleasing in the buildings," said Charles Heimsath [...]

There is a capitol view corridor determination for 711 Trinity. This is on the block east of the St. David's Church. Isn't this where they were planning there archives project?

No, the archives project is off the table. I was at a meeting at St. David's Church where this was discussed.

Apologies if this has already been posted, but it looks like there's a pretty large new business park in the works around the old Dell buildings off Parmer.

Good for the area indeed. The Hyatt will replace an existing surface parking lot which is a very good thing. Hotel guests will have interesting views of the activities that happen around ARCH.

The Capital view determination at 711 trinity is also interesting. The whole block is a surface parking lot and the CVC covers only a small portion of that entire block. Hope to see something nice go there.

Not according to this entry from the Downtown Austin Blog:

2/3 of the site is encumbered by a CVC, so I suspect any building on this site will be capped at a few stories.

Guess I have concerns about those hotels surrounding Cheer Ups. That is such an amazing OUTDOOR venue. I just hope that the hotels and the City make sure that sound is considered in design. I really really hate the thought of guests complaining...etc.

Great point. Current calculations for new taxable property made avail by sinking 35 don't account for potential CVC removal.

Phase II has started at The Market at Slaughter Lane (where the old Albertson's used to be). They are constructing retail space on the eastern edge of the parking lot.

Here's an old flyer I found:
