The permit says the building was built without the benefit of an architect or engineer. The owner was also the contractor. The RE companies say the building got a major renovation in 1956, but there's no permit for that.

I don't think we've seen this image of a Dolores drive-in at Sepulveda and Washington-- looks like it might have been another chain's outlet at some point. Albertson's Oldsmobile next door (4114 Sepulveda)--including its rocket-- was there until recently.

Anyone know where the rocket might have gone?

I want to say the Rocket was there until last year. This dealership had a nice 47 Olds Woodie around 2000/01.. I use to work at Allied Model Trains further down the road, and would walk past it everyday.I think this is a starbucks now. As far as Dolores.. Im pretty sure they were a decent size chain, the last one i know of is on Santa Monica Blvd in WLA..when i was going to High School we would go to Dolores after a play performance( circa 97-00), the food cost the same as DuPars, and tasted like Norms..I like Norms, I like DuPars pies...but Dolores....

This article is about the closure of the Dolores Drive-In at Wilshire and La Cienega. It's from the October 2, 1980 edition of the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.

The restaurant obviously survived into 1981, because that's when KNBC TV interviewed loyal customers having their "last meal". One arrived in a chauffeur driven Mercedes, while another left their VW Thing parked outside.

If you look closely at the right edge of the slide, there's a slight elevation with a picket fence running up the rise.

Unless I'm mistaken, the Culver City Stadium was the second race track in Culver City.

"The 1/5th mile track was built in 1932 by the Culver City Kennel Club for Greyhound races. (but anti-gambling legislation closed it in 1934!)
The property was sold to Douglas Aircraft in 1954, which later built a plant and office building."

Good news! Those I-beams are still standing as part of this car wash on W Florence, just east of Crenshaw.

It could be Wilshire, as that's where this picture I posted nearly a year ago was taken. It seems to be the same cars in a different order. My original post also has a "now" view.

I thought the building (in my pic) might be the Ambassador Hotel but it seemed too close to the street. (at first I thought it was the Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica)

The Dobson & Co building was at 2627 Clarendon Avenue, Huntington Park. It's no longer standing, but the old Community Bank at 2629 is still there. A quick Google suggests it's now the San Antonio Mental Health Center, but there's no signage to back this up.

The building with the tower is around the corner on Rita Avenue. There's a sign over the door at the base of the tower (hidden by the bush in this image) which says Baptist Day School. The sign facing Clarendon Street says First Baptist Church.

The 1868 Map No. 4 showing the Stone Quarry Hills and the four main ravines which would become Elysian Park. From the east they are/were Solano, Cemetery, Sulphur and Chavez.
Solano, a well defined water-course which emptied into the Los Angeles River watershed, has been the location of city reservoirs from a very early time although
here a small reservoir is shown at the mouth of Cemetery Ravine slightly east of the actual cemetery. Chavez would become...well you know.
The Roman Catholic Cemetery would ultimately become the athletic fields of Cathedral High School where the student body calls itself the 'Phantoms'.
