Agreed, looks a lot better than that awful attempt at faux historic.. Definitely an improvement over an empty lot.

Also not to cry wolf but I've noticed in the past week at 1031 Canal they've moved some dirt around and those pieces of wood? Maybe its nothing.. lol and they've been testing soil at new Virgin hotel!

British Airways arrives for a special Mardi Gras charter promoting the start of scheduled service next month. This is a game-changer for our region. I encourage everyone to support BA and Condor services to Europe this year! Hopefully they can expand to daily service soon.

Flying Condor to Frankfurt in Business Class, and economy class back from Rome via Frankfurt this Summer. It will be so nice not having to clear customs in one of the mega-hubs.

If this trend continues down the Earhart corridor, I dare say maybe we'll see an Ikea pop up. They like to locate near interstate highways. I'm sure the store would draw people from Gulfport to Baton Rouge.

I think IKEA is more likely to go somewhere like elmwood or a place with easer regional transit access. Maybe even by carmx in Kenner.

Description
The Property is a 5-story masonry building. The fifth floor is set back from the Decatur Street frontage and is not visible from the street. Currently, the Property is occupied by the House of Blues, a music bar and restaurant venue, on the first and second levels and the third through fifth levels are apartment units. The Property is a historic structure that is rated “Green” for it s historic relevance as identified by the Vieux Carre Commission (VCC). The face brick on the Decatur Street facade are white glazed bricks and based on an initial street level visual inspection approximately 8% of the glazed brick are damaged. After further review and an initial assessment, the Project is estimated to include approximately 25% replacement or repair of the most damaged face brick on the front exterior facade. In addition, vegetation is growing from the mortar in several areas, especially at the line of the second-floor spandrel and at the parapet. The VCC has notified the building owner that the front facade issues need to be renovated and repaired. In addition, the owner has requested that this proposal also address masonry renovation and repair requirements needed on the side and rear facades. Furthermore, some window repair and refurbishment will need to be executed on the Decatur street facade.

Some really great projects we've seen in the last year or so!

http://www.nola.com/homegarden/index...incart_m-rpt-2

Since I've left the city, can someone please tell me what kind of retail they wound up putting in Factor's Row and the brick building at 208 Bienville?
