Yep, I can see them now. Not sure what is causing the size difference.

This is the "other half"? Some tacky mcmansions? I've lived in a home larger than these (and much more aesthetically pleasing) for the majority of my life..

Only difference is it's by the ocean. The ocean isn't so pleasant, salt water stings your eyes and tastes like hell in your mouth, not fun.

I was comparing it to my abode when I was growing up (we lived on the first floor):

I guess it's all relative.

Oh, well, sorry. haha

People seem to have this raging boner for Carmel-By-The-Sea and I'm just not impressed in the slightest, a bunch of overpriced homes in a city with nothing to do but snort cocaine all day and I guess make small talk with Clint Eastwood.

Interesting family home though, what city was it in? It'd be kinda cool to live on the third floor.

Owners of the Stowers Building in Downtown refused to sell to Hines for BG Group Place, now the building is being converted to an Aloft Hotel.

Formerly a residential street in Upper Kirby, this is the only home that remains.

^^^^

And to think how much they would of gotten as well. Hell, that shack could be a giant mansion. They would be set for life. Eh, but for some, I guess pride and heritage overrides any sort of compensation. Lol at building around them.

^^ I guess that's why most places have zoning laws. Of course that doesn't always guarantee good growth.

Yeah, I just picked Carmel because of the reputation.

My apartment building is in the Collegetown neighborhood of Ithaca. There's been a huge amount of changes since I lived there in the 50s & 60s:

Our building is on Buffalo Street at the bottom left.

I'm aware that Las Vegas is known for its glitz. But I thought I'd explore some Vegas grit.

Here's a couple of block of Jackson Avenue in the West Las Vegas neighborhood, a short distance northwest of downtown.

A little row of businesses:

Looks like it was an old gas station:

Next door is the club house for the Chosen Few M/C:

Around the corner is the True Vine Baptist Church with the Soul Brothers M/C club house next to it:

Next on the block are some empty storefronts:

A block away is an old casino (pic from 2015):

I guess all is not lost. The casino seems to be alive agin in 2016. I wonder if that's the new owner taking a picture of his baby?

Smile

A dandy old building in Butte, Montana:

Upon closer inspection, turns out it served as a brothel for nearly 100 years:

Is it just me, or does this look like an accident waiting to happen?

The only positive thing I can say about it is the big blank wall isn't all tagged up.
