Has the neighborhood association approved this? They are complaining about the Drexel dorm that is only going to be down the block...
It goes in front of the CDR April 2nd... if they oppose this project too, then we KNOW FOR A FACT they are just being NIMBY's

So was it approved? I'm not sure how to find out. I can't seem to find the webpage for the neighborhood group if they even ave one.

^^^ Gocha. Thanks. I hope this goes through; it will be a nice addition to the growing University City skyline.

Excellent news! Looks like the planning commission has been making some good decisions in University City as of late.

Last I heard was summer. So if all goes smoothly then likely sometime over the summer or early Fall.

Hmm, the previous rendering didn't have those asymmetric offset windows that seem to be trendy now and which I suspect won't age well. I do like the look of this building overall though. What looks like a slightly sloped roof-line and the diagonal orientation of the main tower (not to mention the height) will really make this stand out.

I also think this will macth and compliment many recent Drexel and U City additions. This area is becoming more new Urbanistic in a sense. I hope this area grows and cultivates more science jobs

Saw that Drexel just bought the firestone lot - these developments and the plans for the area from Drexel around to 30th street would reallt be game chaning to the fabric of the area

I am ok with this design, not unbelieveable but worthy IMHO

edit: the base to me works well and it appears the building will mount the base diagnonally

Would be nice to see the Science Center build up the property right next door...

Yeah, that's actually my favorite part of the design. The main tower is diagonal to the street but the base still meets the sidewalk. I even like the contrasting style for the triangular portion of the base that comes out to meet the street. I think this diagonal aspect will help this tower stand out a bit from the rest of the science center boxes, but you're right in that it will match a lot lot of the recent Drexel design nicely.

Article on this from PhillyShark. Ground breaking will likely occur at the end of summer or the beginning of fall.

Philadelphia Real Estate Bolg just posted some news about this.

It looks like they added some floors and made a few other changes. Check the link for a new rendering.

This is the type of building that should go at 20th & Market as well. But hey, it is a gain for the new Center City of Philadelphia.

Agreed! Maybe some of the projects in University City will inspire developers and architects to up their game in Center City. At least we can hope.
