A second Huntsville area Fresh Market will open in Madison. Renovation is under way on the former Star Market property.

Mary Beth Broeren, director of planning and economic development for the City of Madison, said the North Carolina retailer will open a 25,000-square-foot store at the U.S. 72 West property, which has been vacant since Star Market closed in October 2014. Opening date has not been announced.

I've always thought one would be nice on Lake Guntersville. It could have kind of a Lake Tahoe vibe to it with people arriving by boat. Maybe where Honeycomb Campground is.

Ruth's Chris downtown at the Embassy Suites is moving a few blocks over to Twickenham Square into the old Asian Rim space. Should be a good move and overall better location. The Embassy is preparing for a renovation and it didn't fit Ruth's needs.

There is no way there exists enough demand for something like that. There's just not enough people in the HSV metro and 565 does not see enough traffic. It is just a spur...an overglorified off ramp.

Cullman or maybe Gardendale would have better luck building something on that scale in a bid to out do the Riverchase Galleria as the state's most expansive mixed use project. Or it would make a little more sense for them to dream big and make big boasts about it because they are in a much larger metro area that has the population to support it and are along the state's most major interstate artery.

The fact that this Town Madison was once billed as the most prime property in the Southeast and 100 years blah blah and had our Governor show up for his obligatory photo op and STILL hasn't gotten off the ground is a sad joke. They don't even have the tenants to do a layup like a Michael's/hh gregg/Office Max power center to save face.

Oh yeah right, they lost their anchor tenants to other centers in HSV...

Oh yeah other decent anchors like Macy's and Von Mauer want blood money to take a risk on such a saturated area...

Oh yeah they don't even have an exit ramp...off the exit ramp.

If they were at least attempting to put this at the proposed Sweetwater site it might make more sense but I guess Madison hasn't scooped enough land out there to make it happen for their resident land shark developer.

The store in question is Wolde Flooring. There is now a sign advertising this not too far west of Jimmy's, but on the south side of US. 72.

Does anyone know if Kroger may build a store on the south side of Hwy. 72 and east of County Line Road. There is a sign in that area with Kroger's name on it and it mentions Bradford Creek on the sign as well. According to Mapquest, Bradford Creek crosses Hwy. 72 in this area.
I know that Kroger is building a new store in the N.E. corner of Huntsville/Browns Ferry Road and Wall Triana Road and Bradford Creek doesn't go anywhere near there, so my curiosity has ticked up a notch.

Heard the awesome news that you guys would be getting GoogleFiber. You'll have internet speed that is 85 times faster than national average and attract major businesses from around the nation.

Congrats!

It'll definitely be a shot in the arm for the city to retain research firms as well as attracting new ones. Having better internet access means one less reason to leave and one more reason to move in.

Looks like the city council will vote tonight to transform the first floor of the Clinton parking deck into retail space. Link below. I will assume this is Crunkelton's announcement.

correct
nice project

The company said a small section of the first floor of the garage will be revamped into five or six retail bays across from UG White and The Clinton Row Project.

Construction should begin this spring with hopes of opening the project by fall of this year.

I wonder if these are going to be real stores or more of the walls and a door that are across the street in the storage sheds.

Hopefully within the next couple of weeks we will see groundbreaking and the start of construction at City Centre at Big Spring downtown. This project will elevate and transform downtown in a huge and positive way. Same with the Avenue which is well underway. Its great to see these dead spots being transformed into living productive areas.
