the difference is that generally people dont get into your business in inner cities like they do in suburbs, so my involvement is by choice.

It's possible to be polite in the halls but never really talk to people. It helps that I use the stairs 99.6% of the time so there's never the elevator wait. And the alley has an easier card reader (wallet high, amazing) than the front door so I use the alley which is also closer usually. And nobody talks in the workout room.

Those numbers are way off. The births are only a little more than 0.2% of the population total, and the annual increase is much smaller than it should be for two examples.

Not US related in a sense, but I was looking at some figures for 2016, and I'd like to note that India is fast approaching China. At the rate its going, probably 5-10 years from now, it will be reach #1 in terms of population.

1 China 1,382,323,332................. 0.46 %
2 India 1,326,801,576.......... 1.2 %
3 U.S. 324,118,787............. 0.73 %
4 Indonesia 260,581,100.....1.17 %
5 Brazil 209,567,920............. 0.83 %
6 Pakistan 192,826,502....... 2.07 %
7 Nigeria 186,987,563...... 2.63 %

Interesting to see the U.S. growing faster than China, but India is out of control. And its not bashing on India, but jesus, most of the population lives in garbage. This is not going to help the country with all of these new people. It would be better to have lower population growth, but with citizens that have a nice gdp per household. Therefore increasing the probability for a good life and to have the resources for future kin to make it.

Source is the same one in post #1602.

China recently relaxed its one-child policy and there may be other measures taken to BOOST population growth due to societal and economic issues. It may take India, even with it's fast growth rate, awhile to catch-up.

The populations that will be really interesting to watch will be the Muslim world., as there populations are growing fastest and and not slowing down like western countries.

Yeah places like Iraq or Afghanistan are experiencing pretty good growth. A lot of those war torn countries are.

I still think population growth should scale with nominal gdp per household. No sense in having a high % of impoverished for the sake of a short term economic goal. Really, policy in general should reflect the long term. Wise investment concentrates on the long term.

china recently stopped their one child rule so i would imagine that given the call of nature its pop growth rate will get more india-like soon.

They dropped it because it was working too well. Now they have the problem of women not wanting to have as many babies, and not to have them as soon. I believe early reports show no big reversal. The economics apparently still favor not having kids or at least delaying.

Thats a good thing. I hope Indonesia, India, Pakistan, and Nigeria follow suit. Well, in Nigeria's case, probably not, but those S.Western and Eastern Asian Countries need to manage the growth from an urban standpoint. Congested, polluted, overcrowded cities can halt the flow of capital. Image NYC looking like Dhaka or New Delhi. Not what we want, even if it looks good for population statistics.

Although Mother Earth is the great equalizer. The planet itself has its own way of population control. It's just not pretty from our standpoint. Those densely populated regions are going to be disasters when Earth really gets tremulous.

NY and NJ have basically identical demographics. They're about as similar as any two states.

Also, not sure if those Deep South states will go majority nonwhite. Places like Mississippi have very small Hispanic and Asian populations, and their White/Black ratios have been pretty stable over the last few decades.

And wow, yeah. Illinois is pretty much a microcosm of America.
