I found this picture on eBay earlier - we may have seen it before. Although the seller's title says it's from 1915, the description says 1942. Due to the almost identical location and date, I'm guessing it could be from the same shoot as the picture posted by MartinTurnbull a couple of days ago in post #25676. This one also shows the Warner Bros Theatre across the intersection from the Cutts Building (as mentioned by e_r on the previous page). The full description says:

The station was on the corner of Santa Monica Boulevard and N Canon Drive. I've arrowed it on the 1953 aerial below. It was a couple of blocks away from Beverly Hills City Hall.
Historic Aerials
The 1953 image is the last that shows the PE station - by 1964, it's gone. The site now appears to be occupied by Beverly Hills Courier Building.
The 1942 CD lists a branch of the Zinke Re-Bottoming Shoe Co Inc at 710 South Hill Street, so I'd say that 706 South Hill Street is correct for the Cutts Building. I found this 1935 image which names the structure in the center as "the Cutts Building (formerly Sun Building)". Unfortunately, unlike most USC images, this one isn't very hi-res - in fact, this is at 100% zoom.
I also found this larger picture from 1928 when it was still the Sun Building. The close-up below shows the canopy at the entrance and Zinke's a couple of doors away. The big clock on the jewelers is still visible in the 1935 image above, but had obviously gone by 1942.
What's interesting about this image is that if I only saw the closer image , I would have placed it in the late 20's, based on the style of the women's coats . But this was smack dab in the middle of the depression, when everyone wore old coats. It's only in the the larger view, when the cars are visible, do we see that it is the 1930's
You are too kind. I think Goldwyn got hold of the Triangle lot in 1918. Marcus Loew combined Metro with Louis B Mayer Productions and Goldwyn (Goldwyn got thrown out with the bathwater) in April 1924, meaning your photo was taken in 1920, '21, '22 or '23. Loew also bought lot #2 that year (on the west side of Overland). King Vidor's "The Big Parade" (1925) was partially filmed there.
Couldn't help but notice the Victorian house just up the street at the NE corner of Echo Park Avenue & Ewing Street.

I especially like the unusual 'flares' at the bottom corners of the gable. Gives it an almost Oriental feel. I'd be willing to bet it's a later Victorian house, late 1890's or maybe even early-early 1900's.
This undated picture shows LAFD Engine Company 35 at 1314 N Vermont Avenue. The company's page at lafire.com says they were based at that address from 1915 until 1953. It also has another image of an earlier engine.

The large building in the background of the picture above is the Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital. The shot below shows the original hospital building with Engine Company 35 in the lower-right corner. It's dated as circa 1925. While the hospital building survives, and has been added to many times, the old engine house is now a small parking lot on the corner of Vermont and Fountain.
