Thanks Biff.

ooh, even a 3D model.

So that elevation view is the back side off John Hirsch.

Seems to fit pretty nicely. That is also the 150' version...

Awesome! It's not an award winner, but I'll take it! Let the shovels hit the ground. 5-10 more of these in the East Exchange please.

The height was rejected though. So it either wont happen or wont look like that.

First vague impressions, great infill on an existing surface lot. Not an award winner but overall positive for sure. Aside from cosmetic/architectural when more details get posted, I don't see how anyone can look negatively on this project. Scale is fair, doesn't overwhelm the neighbours (actually compliments their building sizes in my opinion) so hopefully someone over at planning takes a look at the actual design in context before defaulting to "way too big based on existing zoning".

My concern is the white cladding. It could look cool or cheap depending on the material.

Seems this type of building would fit well in the area. I get its heritage character area. All the existing building stock is great. Why not allow this type of stuff to bring more density, when it's not overwhelming like the ICON in Ottawa. This would be exactly what is needed.

I agree with everyone else on here. It's definitely good enough to be in the Exchange and looks like the perfect height in the 3D model.

I'm impressed. It fits right in. I like it as shown, I don't think there is any need to shorten it at all. It would grind my gears if this proposal were axed due to the City's refusal to budge on the height issue.

Echoing the thoughts on this here. This is a perfectly sized project for the space. It really blends well with the surrounding buildings, even more so on a macro scale

So do we petition the planners or what?

Or are we too layman for them.

I'm good with this. The podium/ first 4 floors look like its mainly brick and glass which I fully support. I agree, the upper portion depends on the material. It could look cheap, but with the right material it might be nice. That penthouse looks like it'll be really something - I've always thought having a penthouse in the Exchange with a rooftop deck would be pretty amazing.

Apparently it is not a Penthouse, but rather an event space. It looks really cool and I would imagine holding functions up there would offer some of the best views in Winnipeg.

Nice design.

I'd like to see images from the street. That's what really matters. That bird's eye might be a bit friendly....grain exchange is 110 feet tall. They have it looking shorter. The red building right behind it is about 55' feet.

Hopefully they get rid of the double overhead doors on the sidewalk. That's terrible.
I think the double doors are located in the back at John Hirsch. Only judging by the building on the left having the red fire escape stairs.

I like the design, I think building materials will be key.
