It is, though I’ve never liked square buildings since I find that shape boring and boxy. 30 Otis also blocked my full top to bottom view of the well done V on 1550 Mission, a building I think is far superior and really admire. 525 Market is another boxy, square building that comes to mind here, among others.

SFYimby strikes again, noting that the little guy next door to this project is also up for an upgrade

Quote:
Planning Commission will review the permits filed for a mixed-use structure at 42 Otis Street in South of Market, San Francisco. The proposal requests for a change in the affordable housing compliance method from on-site to in-lieu fee. The project involves a five-story mixed-use building with single-room occupancies (SRO).

I'm fairly certain this one is 80% done, with siding or cladding going up as we speak.

I think the permit and approval SFYIMBY posted about was just for a change of BMR units to offsite, in-lieu fees.

Edit: Google Street View shows it from Mission shows fully framed in.

and to complement the Google streetview, here it was over the weekend:

also noticed a sidewalk bulb-out in progress at the corner of Otis and S Van Ness, so that horrendous intersection is starting to get at least slightly tamed

back to 30 Otis itself...

and here is the back as seen from one of the internal alleys on its block, a component of the Market St Hub project

and looking up 12th St
