In terms of new office buildings in Chicago, how would other forumers rank this building with 130 Riverpoint and 150 Riverside (and eventually 320S Canal and WPS)?

150 Riverside is a top 10 building for me so obviously it would rank on the top here, but between 110 and Riverpoint...I think I like Riverpoint more... those reflections are pretty hard to beat. I'm thinking 333 Wolf Point may be similar in this regard, but Riverpoint standing "alone" as it does may still make it better. But obviously, I'll need to wait until 333 and 320 s. Canal are done to really form an opinion on them.

This tower is at the bottom of the list you gave. River Point is my favorite... I think it does everything well. It has a great base with a very nice plaza, Riverwalk and now art work with the Calatrava sculpture. The tower itself is nice as it rises above the base with its gentle horizontal curve. Finally the top is very good with the arch sloped inward. I just wish the top was lit up at night. 150 Riverside is great as well. The base is of course very well done. I like the wavy verticals fins but I wish they were more robust. The building kind of falls apart at the top. This is the tallest building west of the river and should make an emphatic skyline statement. Instead it looks like the top was an after thought. I think BMO will be great as well. The base and glass look awesome so far and the top looks at least like some effort has been made from the most recent renderings. I think this may end up being Goettsch's best work so far. I think WPS will be excellent based on how WPE has turned out but I wish it would be taller and a bit more daring. 110 N Wacker is fine but nothing great especially for the tallest office building built in Chicago since the early 1990's (soon to be surpassed by WPS).

This does not look like an 800ft building. Maybe because it's so wide?

It’s because the surrounding buildings have comparable heights. 110 N Wacker looks taller than it’s neighbors, but it doesn’t loom over them at close distance. Easier to notice the height difference when you’re farther away.

Civic Opera ~550
Boeing HQ ~560
Wolf Point East ~680
River Point ~730
150 N Riverside ~720

That and Chicago is huge (and tall). One of the few skylines that can make 800' look like nothing.

Yep.

Chicago's recent crop of office towers are pretty damn girthy, which can throw off the proportions a bit compared to more svelte residential towers like One Bennet Park, especially when viewing them in photographs.

And like you said, on top of that, chicago (along with NYC) is one of only two US cities where an 817' tall skyscraper isn't a skyline standout. In any other US city (not including NYC), this building would be in the top 5, but in chicago, it's currently only the 17th tallest building in the city, and will drop to 19th in the near future once One Chicago and Salesforce are topped out.

To put that into perspective, Detroit's 19th tallest building is the 366' tall Buhl Building.

Here's one of Nick's excellent pics that more fully captures the building's full 817' of height.
