There's a great article about the phenomenal impact of restaurateur Pano Karatassos on the city's culinary scene.

Everybody from Shaun Doty to Kevin Rathbun to Scott Serpas has cooked for Pano.

Arden’s Garden to open Auburn Avenue location

http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/b...nta-daily.html

Quote:
Arden’s Garden will take about 1,250 square feet at the former home of the Atlanta Daily World, the city’s oldest black newspaper.

Gene Kansas Commercial Real Estate just acquired the building at 145 Auburn Ave.

“We will restore the building and bring it back to its former vibrancy,” Kansas said in a release.

Kansas shared with Atlanta Business Chronicle his plans to renovate the nearly 5,000-square-foot structure to include several apartments upstairs and two commercial spaces downstairs.

There will be about twelve to fifteen restaurants and twenty-five to thirty vendors over the course of the whole project. It’s thirteen acres. Not all will be in the food hall. Some will be in the service building, some on the rooftop.

When is PCM officially set to open? Or are we looking at rolling openings?

It will be rolling but will start to take shape in spring 2015. A lot of the office and residential and some retail will be opening in the fall of 2014, but the robust experience will be articulated in spring in 2015.

Earth Fare coming to Emory Point

http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/b...velopment.html

Quote:
A new-to-market natural foods grocer has signed a lease to anchor the second phase of Emory Point.

N.C.-based Earth Fare Inc. plans to open a nearly 25,000-square-foot store at the mixed-use development near Emory University and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Atlanta Business Chronicle reported in March 2013 that Earth Fare was looking to open stores in metro Atlanta.

The grocer currently has more than 30 stores in nine states, including two stores in Georgia: in Athens and Augusta.

Earth Fare sells organic and natural foods. It touts a local focus (aiming to buy products sourced within 100 miles of the store) and has banned products with high-fructose corn syrup, artificial flavors, preservatives or trans fat from its shelves.

The second phase of Emory Point, which started construction last year, includes 43,000 square feet of retail and 307 apartments. Cousins Properties Inc. has partnered on the project with Gables Residential. It should open in early 2015.

Cumberland added the Grub Burger Bar.

Smyrna is adding a new unique non-chain restaurant, from what I understand, on the corner of Spring Rd and Atlanta Rd, just through zoning.

After a decade of sitting still, the blue-domed Polaris will spin again in less than two weeks, which is set to reopen June 10.
The restaurant has been designed with four sections, each inspired by a home: an open living room with a communal table, a living room, library and bar.
Guests will revolve around an open kitchen with full views of chefs preparing meals.
Polaris will rotate every 45 minutes

Delta Flight Museum To Reopen JUNE 17

Quote:
The exhibition devoted to Delta and its aviation history is set to take flight again June 17 after a more than $6 million renovation of the corporate museum, according to a company spokesman.

The 68,000-square-foot facility is housed in Delta’s two original maintenance hangars at the company’s headquarters in Atlanta.

The Museum features a Boeing 737-200 full-motion flight simulator (the only one in the United States that is open to the public) as well as historic aircraft like the “Spirit of Delta,” a Boeing 767 donated by employees in 1982.

westside is blowing up! the Barcelona Wine Bar addition was inevitable.. all their CT locations are also right near their Bartaco's..

the beltline cant come to the westside fast enough. traffic is already a nightmare and howell mill is just gonna be a parking lot soon enough. that area would benefit greatly from some transportation infrastructure overhaul. street car up marietta maybe?
