Las Vegas Developer Continues Restoration of Midtown Las Vegas Properties with Fifth Acquisition

Camino Verde Group, a Las Vegas-based real estate investment, development and asset management company, has acquired Camino 2630 Apartments in Midtown Las Vegas. The community, located at 2630 Sherwood Street, is the fifth vintage apartment building that the firm has purchased to refurbish in the neighborhood.

This a major development called Bleutech Park that I guess was announced a long time ago and will be breaking ground this year? I have never heard of it but it is supposed to be a massive $7.5 billion smart city project in Las Vegas. I also saw that they were originally supposed to break ground in December 2019. It looks and sounds pretty crazy but, from what I've read, it has a lot of legitimate partners and it's not too outrageous. I'm sure it can't be much larger than any of the resorts.

It's pretty far out there too as it's located between the M and South Point. It will be off the Las Vegas Blvd and Cactus right next to the I-15.

Multimillion-Dollar BrewDog Project Is on Track for a Debut on the Las Vegas Strip

Recently filed permits confirm Scotland-born BrewDog’s wildly ambitious plans are on track for Las Vegas Boulevard, creating a huge, 30,000-square-foot rooftop complex, with enviable views of the Strip. The brewery and pub will sit above the still under construction Multimillion-Dollar Olive Garden and a Target retail store, taking over the roof space on the northern section of the Showcase Mall and facing the Park MGM.

The Drew/Fontainbleu is to become the JW Marriott Las Vegas Blvd and is (allegedly) set to open 2023. Maybe it will actually open this time.

UNLV’s New Medical Education Building Hits Halfway Point

Once completed, the second, third and fourth floors will each include classrooms, a digital library and breakout rooms. The fifth floor will house medical school administration and faculty and include conference areas.
The facility will allow for accommodating new ideas in the future, Schafer said. “This building was built to be flexible.”

Expanding tourist capacity in Las Vegas demands improved transportation

Light rail would provide a convenient and, if structured properly, free way for visitors to get wherever they’re going on the Strip. Indeed, with observation cars going up and down the Strip, it could be an attraction all on its own.

A light rail system shouldn’t be considered a wish-list item, but rather a necessity to maintaining the economic vitality of Southern Nevada and, by extension, the entire state.

Not sure if the monorail really counts there are a lot of other, smaller trams on resorts too but we really need something that will generate investment into the off-strip downtown.

UnCommons project in Las Vegas to be future home of Morgan Stanley

New York financial-services giant Morgan Stanley plans to occupy 22,000 square feet of office space at UnCommons, according to project developer Matter Real Estate Group.
It will move there after spending more than two decades in the Hughes Center office park east of the Strip, Matter said.

RTC launches Game Day Express bus service to Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas Raiders home games

The new service, created to deliver fans of the Silver and Black to all ten home games, offers riders five locations around the valley to park and ride.

Beginning Aug. 14, the Raiders' first preseason game, guests can ride with Game Day for $2 per person each way ($4 roundtrip).

New Durango Station. This project is right next to the currently under construction UnCommons project. It looks really similar to Aliante and is about the same size. It's unfortunate that Station Casinos isn't more imaginative given how much land they own around the valley. It would even be a great opportunity to include mixed-use and higher density development.

Las Vegas Festival Grounds emerging as contender in A’s relocation plan

The elephant in the room on any A’s-to-Nevada talk is whether the team would ask for public monies for a new ballpark and, if so, how much.

“We need to learn more to continue to approach this in a thoughtful way,” Kaval said. “We don’t have all the answers right now. There’s so many people who care about these communities in Southern Nevada and want to see baseball here in a major way.”

SURVEY: MGM donates land for Route 91 memorial to be built at site of shooting

The questionnaire, which is a follow-up to an initial survey conducted in March, will be open until Aug. 15 on the homepage of Clark County’s website.
Results of the first survey showed that a clear majority of respondents — about 65 percent — want the memorial to be built at the site of the shooting, while fewer than one in five respondents said the memorial should not be located at the festival grounds.

I've been watching the A's developments in Oakland and I doubt they'll move unless some deep pocketed actual developer wants to partner with a mediocre baseball team which has never seemed likely for a number of reasons.

Their plans in Oakland have revolved around trying to find a funding source with tax revenue districts on not just city-owned land where they want to build the stadium but also the immediate Jack London neighborhood to make it viable for a stadium after long-needed infrastructure investments. A commuter train dangerously rolls in the center of the street just outside the proposed stadium for example which is a hazard to the pedestrians in the sorta-healthy neighborhood today, nevermind the thousands of pedestrian on game day. That's just one problem with the site they're attempting to negotiate.

This all suggests the A's want to be the landlord/master developer rather than a rich developer's anchor tenant/partner. I find it unlikely that anybody with actual money hasn't approached them to get it done on either the Coliseum or Terminal sites--they just want the power. But Oakland in their foolishness doesn't seem to realize the value in the A's deal on the table because nobody is going to pump any money there on their own.

Meanwhile the Coliseum the A's are on a year to year rent with is literally falling apart. Everything about them is up in the air, and maybe not spending city money is the way to get them back on the ground.

Oakland also has restarted talks with the A's to keep them there. We'll see how this all plays out, but this sounds very similar to the situation with the Diamondbacks and rumors of their possible move to Vegas a couple of years ago. This is more of a tactic from team owners to get cities back to the negotiating table in order to get what they want. I don't se the A's leaving Oakland and I would bet Oakland is hard pressed not to lose another franchise.

It would be neat to have an MLB team, but I know I wouldn't support ANY public money going towards a project like that in Vegas. The city very obviously neglects public transportation and other basic services but seems to always find money for sport franchises so hopefully they say no this time. Oakland can keep them

The project itself isn't really worth mentioning here but I was interested in reading about the Southern Nevada warehouse building spree so I thought I would share. It's cool to see more industrial uses coming to Las Vegas as the economy could definitely benefit from diversification

A new project under construction at the giant 201 Las Vegas Boulevard S. mixed-use complex could change the dining scene in Downtown Las Vegas. San Diego’s Broken Yolk Cafe is the first restaurant to reveal what to expect when the downtown hub debuts next year inside a former United States Postal Service facility, already gutted to the core.

This is a cool project. Awesome location and exactly the type of projects we need to see more of downtown. Especially exciting to hear about their plans for outdoor and rooftop dining.

The four-story Mera-branded projects will offer activities such as happy hour, wine tastings and cooking and fitness classes. Apartments will range from roughly 600 to 1,300 square feet, with monthly rents expected to span from about $1,300 to $2,800, according to a news release.
