Nice photos! Seattle is on fire. Must be on a per-capital basis the most rapidly urbanizing big city in the country.

That could be true. Miami apparently has more dense stuff going up, but it's not as urban.

Wow, Vashon, some nice shots. Thanks.

Typically, I don't like twins but I think the design of the Onni twins is spectacular. Despite the podium, the towers comes right down to the street. I think its going to have a significant impact on that part of DT.

Finally, saw Cielo up close and personal. I really like it.

This is huge news. Zillow could be Seattle's next big company and its headquartered DT.

Zillow buys Trulia for $3.5B

I have to say that I'm not too impressed with the upper portions and top of Rainier Tower II. The quasi open green-roof space at the base looks interesting.

Thanks for those updates Vashon! 2720 4th Ave actually looks better than what the rendering showed. I think they minimized or changed some of the original colors.

There's rumor... talk... that 5th & Columbia is supposed to start site prep in August. I walked by on 7/28 to see what was there. Only this tiny trailer and a pick-up truck were there.

I agree but I do like how they are bringing more retail to that block.....at least it looks like that from the renderings.

SEATTLE | 1613 Second Avenue | 400 FT | FLOORS

I made a thread for the new 400ft residential tower being proposed near the Pikes Marketplace.

Thread: http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=212615

No renderings as of yet, just height information.

Always great to see Vashon's updates.

I'm excited to hear about things getting started at 5th & Columbia and it's also great to see that parking lot at 1st & Stewart going away. Seeing the steel at the new Amazon HQ is also nice to see.

Hopefully at some point we'll have a Downtown that's free of surface parking lots.

The Pioneer Square rennaissance is through with fits & starts

There are new bars and restaurants, yes, but also the new housing, retail and amenities that drive real city living.

By Mark Hinshaw

The Pioneer Square rennaissance is through with fits & starts. There are new bars and restaurants, yes, but also the new housing, retail and amenities that drive real city living.

In the thirty-five years that I’ve lived in Seattle, much of it working and living in or near Pioneer Square, I cannot recall so much buzz about the place. A couple of years ago, I wrote about what was beginning to happen in Seattle’s “first neighborhood”. Little did I know that things would take off as much as they have.

Today, cocktail bar Intermezzo Carmine (411 1st Ave S.), with a look straight out of the Left Bank, has finally given Carmine’s Terrazzo a street-facing presence. Down the street, swanky Damn the Weather (116 1st Ave S.) is packed by early evening. Radici (the re-named Tinello) on 2nd Ave S. is bustling day and night, despite not being in the busy First Avenue corridor, and the BRGR Bar on Occidental Park (111 Occidental Ave S.) has reinvented itself with great, inexpensive food and an upgraded interior ambience.

Last week, these were joined by the legendary Taylor Shellfish (410 Occidental Ave S.), which sold out of its stock within hours of opening.

Soon to open is Pizzeria Gabbiano on Main St., a sister restaurant to the Square's beacon of handmade pasta, Il Corvo. That will be followed by GoodBar next door and then, later in the year, Il Boccone — just a couple of blocks to the west. Over at Stadium Place on King Street, Josh Henderson of Skillet and Westward fame is readying sports bar Quality Athletics for a fall opening. Soon after, it will be joined by a Korean restaurant.

Early Look at Vulcan's Big South Lake Union Building Blocks

Tuesday, August 5, 2014, by Sean Keeley

Seattle recently allowed for 160-foot buildings to go up in South Lake Union and Vulcan is taking full advantage of that height. Though they were once hoping for 240-feet to work with, they'll take the 160 and run with it, releasing new renderings for Block 31 and Block 37 projects, which will go before the design review board on August 13. Located at 630 Westlake, bounded by Mercer & Valley St., Block 37 will include a 16-story building with roughly 230 residential units, 14,150 square feet of commercial/retail space and 350 below-grade parking stalls. Meanwhile, neighboring 16-story building Block 31 (625 Boren Ave.) will include around 375 residential units, 16,725 square feet of commercial/retail space and a 400-stall parking garage. All of the numbers are dependent on which building schemes they settle on. The third part of the project, Block 25, is now being considered for an office building instead of a third residential tower, but that will be presented to the review board separately.

· Here's what Vulcan's lakefront project will look like [PSBJ]
