All India Hotels & Restaurants Convention’ to take place in Trivandrum
^^

Southern India Hotel & Restaurant Association (SIHRA) will organise a two-day ‘All India Hotels & Restaurants Convention’ at Thiruvananthapuram on December 7 and 8, 2009. The convention will be held at Taj Residency, Thiruvananthapuram. The theme for the convention will be ‘Indian Tourism – Fast Learning & Future Earning.’

M P Purushothaman, president, SIHRA said, “We expect an overall participation of 500 delegates from across India during the convention. The convention will be inaugurated by V S Achuthanandan, Chief Minister, Kerala and will be attended by state and central ministers.” SIHRA will also organise a post-convention tour to Sri Lanka for the interested delegates.

Purushothaman said that various business sessions will be finalised in the next two to three days.

MCH Trivandrum will be made Centre of Excellence: Tharoor

An out-patient(OP) department block and a super-speciality block coming up.

Installation of the modern CT, ultrasound and MRI scanning machines.

Construction of a waiting shed costing Rs 22 lakh on the Medical College premises would begin soon.

To be made a Centre of Excellence.

The British-era tubular bell @ Christ Church, Trivandrum chimes again at its 150th Anniversary Celebrations



The only one of its kind in the country.

The inscription on the bell reads ‘PW Workshop 1874.’

Originally brought from London.

A similar Tubular Chime and the only other in the world can be seen at the Christ Church, Kent, UK.

First in Kerala





In orange KSRTC and JNNURM livery, the buses will be numbered JNT 1, JNT 2 etc

The bus is in "kneel down" mode, with its adaptable suspension lowered to enable people to board from the side walk.

The back rises up over the massive rear mounted engine.




The front leads to a cockpit-like driver's position.




Volvo 8400 or Boeing 777?!
