Was taken a picture of Chaz condos, but you can see in the background that X2 has passed X Condos in height.

Posting a 196 meter tower in the 11-30 thread - how awesome is that?

Can't wait to start posting 200 meter towers in this thread..

Don't usually walk over to the eastside of downtown, seeing as I'm old and lazy

Said it before and I'll say it again, X2 is fantastically done. One of the top 10 in the country!

Yes, but from many angles, it's well hidden. And when it's not (east side), at least the Minto Buildings cover most of it up.

Anyway, 2 quick snaps from today. Hullmarks ugly (spandrel) clad-side, but at the same time, the angle where it looks the skinniest.
(it's also nice seeing Emerald Park popping up behind Hullmark South)

As for X2, it's not really doing it for me. The Mies inspired design compliments a more rectangular shaped floor plate better IMO. X1 is great.

The pedestrian realm on the side street beside the X condos devlopment is fantastic. The trees/flowers/vegetation suits the development and area perfectly.

I vastly prefer X Condos to Casa.

Finally got you to get pictures of X2 huh.
Really like the building and it's one of the least photographed on the list

The spandrel on the east elevation of Hullmark looks terrible. I don't understand how one of the biggest and most respected developers in the city can make so many condos look so bad. I'm so scared by what Tridel is about to do down by the lake in front of the beautiful ICE Towers. 230 meters just go so scary.....

The volume of X-2 condos is a little too boxy/heavy, but the cladding is nice and I like the loggia-style balconies. All in all, rather successful.

The black painted bars on the balconies that mark the division lines are a very nice touch. I like how they blend almost seamlessly into the minimalist window wall design.

So happy they avoided the cliche tinted/frosted balconies.

But you're forgetting about the north/south sides of Hullmark (and the podium)! From Yonge/Sheppard, Hullmark is the best looking condo U/C in the city right now!

but ya, Tridel tends to pull of a lot of 300 Front's...

Looks good, so far. Needs to be a little taller, but can't complain, 170 meters is still pretty good.

I wouldn't have it any taller at all, not in that location. The city does very well with preserving the shadowing bylaws for the riverwalk and Prince's Island Park by keeping the buildings in close proximity to the river short. I'd rather have beautiful sunny parks than an extra 200 meter tower

Is there any chance of significant residential towers going up the heart of Calgary's CBD? There used to be a criticism that Toronto's CBD was dead after 5pm and on weekends because no one actually lived there. Shangri-La, Trump, and 1 King West changed that with INDX and others still to come.

I'd love to see Calgary do the same thing.

I thought it was office. Thanks. Hopefully Calgary's CBD will see more of that.

Yes, as GreaterMontreal said, Telus Sky is mixed use. 2/5 office, 3/5 residential. Also, there is 3 Eau Claire (which may be on hold) and City Centre II (Residential and Hotel), both of which are 161 meters. There are also major developments directly adjacent to the CBD, along the train tracks/10th Avenue in the Beltline. Mark on 10th (around 350 units), WAM (around 450 units), Karma (around 300 units), 6th and 10 (around 300 units), Aura's 1 and 2 (combined about 400 units [guessing]), and an apartment as part of the Marriott Residence Inn project that hasn't had any data announced yet. There is also the Eau Claire redevelopment which will have over 1000 units... while it's in Eau Claire, it is contiguous with the CBD, directly across the street from the City Centre project and Canterra Tower.

Oh, also the GWL 7 tower proposal to be released this year. It's rumoured to have thousands of units.

Thanks for the low down. On my first trip to Calgary, the only thing missing for me in the CBD was a residential component and the amenities that flow from that.
