Re: Bulletin Bldg.

Inga has on her IG page pictures of the bldg with the deep red exoskeleton. Looks really great against the etched glass. This one turned out better than expected. Sweet!

I walk by quite a bit; I keep forgetting to take pictures.

The red exoskeleton is about 2/3 of the way done. It looks great, but I hope it can stay that vibrantly red forever.

Also, does anyone know what is being built at 41st and Walnut?

Old City

Some of these are completed in the past couple years - but just for a taste of how they turned out, and what's currently under construction:

Honestly. It's like they tried to make this look stupid.

But hey, it's better than the hotel and entertainment venue they were looking to put up at that site.

The quality is unbelievably shitty. I give the white panels 2 months before they look like they need to be replaced.

I actually felt the orange tiles - like with my hand... if anyone saw me, they probably thought, this guy is a lunatic. It's good quality tho, soild, real deal, I remember how BPG did their best to re-create it. I'm not sure, I've photoed it before for here -- I thought it would be redundant - my bad tho!

It's astonishing. What an absolute waste, and it looks cheap and tacky on top of the wasted opportunity for substantial density. This is what people ruining things looks like.

What should have been:

^Not only does that look better, but it made more sense as a use. Who wants to live in a stick built turd between an on ramp and the Mint? Of course, I'm sure there will be a number of renters who answer what's meant to be a rhetorical question.

Couple thoughts on the Old City rundown:

-There have been nearly a thousand new units added in the “north” Old City area over the last several years and it has really changed the street life a lot
-While the 4th and Race project is ugly, it is a MUCH more pleasant experience going west and north in that area and the landscaping that’s part of this has made a huge difference in extending the neighborhood; that said, the development is now offering two free months rent AND free parking, so they may be having trouble leasing out units
-I too am a lunatic and touched the National tiles as soon as I could access them. They did a great job recreating the building, but what was supposed to be a nice little pocket park that was adjacent to this and the entrance to Elfreth’s Alley is currently a muddy rectangle of dog poop; hopefully BPG delivers what they showed in the renderings sooner than later.

All look like turds to me. I'm curious which one you'd call "very good."

The last big Arch St development in that post is done fairly well.

I think 218 Arch turned out really nice. Adds a lot of density and though it's clearly a modern building it has that factory loft feel to it. The rest of those are all horrible though. Especially the ones in the first couple of pictures (On 3rd st.) That one's hideous in person. At least as bad as the 5th and Race one (also hideous).

I live next door to 218 Arch. It's the best of the bunch easily. I still can't believe they opted for those ridiculous town homes vs a hotel @ the mint. What a stupid decision. With the amount of Tourism in the area, that place would have been booked all the time.

218 Arch.

The rest are junk.

I hope the developers of 4th&Race go bankrupt and lose the building.

It's criminal. I understand zoning is zoning and there is only so much the city can do, but somebody should have stepped in and prevented that travesty from happening (Squilla, etc).

There's a chance they go bankrupt. That place is a tough sell and they came out of the gate in trouble.

Dumb-asses.
