It didn't close in Halifax, it relocated to the Dartmouth side

They had both Tag and Ashley listed as opening in 2013, so I would assume that Ashley was suppose to go elsewere. I also think that the location next to BB&B could also be a good fit for them, but I admit that they could take Tag spot also.

Yeah, Ashley Furniture Homestore is now in with The Brick, Gallery 1, and World Wide Furniture in the Atrium http://www.atriumhome.ca/.
It's over 200,000 sq. ft. almost like an IKEA. Definitely worth checking out if you're in town.

Maybe The Brick will open up next to Ashley Furniture in Moncton.

I did not know that it moved, I just heard that it closed at Bayers. This new complex must be nice, it makes sense that they all got together to make a complete "one stop shop" with a huge selection.

Well, the already dubious sign for the Mapleton Centre at the Mapleton Rd offramp from Wheeler Blvd has now been topped off with a rather hideous canary yellow cap, replete with even more yellowish vertical banners!

I don't know who is responsible for this butt-f***ing ugly abomination, but there is no question the effect is certainly eye-catching (in the worst possible way).

Who approved this!!!

Not sure what the future of The Brick is as they were recently bought out by Leons. I seem to remember that they would continue with 2 separate brands. It will be interesting to see how they move forward under the dual banner

I don't know, but afar I thought it was a construction module of some sort.
What an awful looking thing! I don't get it.

I was in Moncton not that long ago and it looks not too bad. But put a big yellow top on it would make it alot worse.

I agree, I was neutral about the sign originally but the canary yellow cap and the banners were over the top and have pushed me firmly into the nay camp......

Are you guys applying for jobs at Gitmo? You're certainly succeeding at torturing the non-Monctonian board viewers. All this talk of this atrocious sign and no pics? It's downright painful!

In other words...

Pics or it doesn't exist.

There had been a rumour regarding Ashley brought up on the forum a number of months ago, but this seems to be the most concrete evidence yet. I wonder if it will go next to BB&B, it's one of the few storefronts without a "for lease" sign on it.

Also, the location of Banana Republic has been confirmed. It will open next to Carter's/Osh Kosh.

I wonder if the predictions of the demise of the entire Tag chain are premature? The only store in the chain that I know is closing for sure is their London store.....
1) I do not think TAG would want to promote and advertise on their website or Faceboo that they went bankrupt. The link below says all 9 of their stores are closing.

http://www.am980.ca/news/local/story.aspx?ID=1919408

2) Target on Mountain Road looks to be all gutted and the front doors have been removed.

Drove up past there tonight...that sign is freaking hideous!!

It looks like some weird industrial thing you'd see on a farm to feed cattle or something...it's bizarre. The sign is ugly, the individual store signs look cheap and ill thought out, the topper is a hideous monstrosity that really doesn't fit the rest of it.

Whomever approved that should never be given the ability to approve a project ever again! Blech!

JL

PS> What's more ugly...we've talked more about the sign than the stores lately.

I'm considering banning the next member that mentions this stupid sign without posting a photo of it.

I'm only joking, but seriously guys get on it.

By popular request.....

Now, it should be kept in mind that I took this photo this afternoon on the way home from work. It was overcast today, so the pure unadulterated canaryness of the canary yellow topper is somewhat muted. Now try to imagine the same thing on a bright sunlit day!!

It's even uglier in person, trust me! It's official, I nominate it in the category of; 2013 ugliest new retail sign, not in Moncton, but in Canada!
This thing will get noticed alright, but for all the wrong reasons.

*blink*... *looks again*... WTH?

The biggest problem is it's just too damn busy. Whoever thought the different sizes for the signs was a good idea should be shot. You can't read the signs to tell who's actually in there, at least not at a glance.

The Orange topper just compounds the problem.

Oh, it's not orange. It's more like the colour of JHikka's avatar.

From Mapleton coming over the overpass, I think the topper looks like a salt spreader you'd put in the bed of a truck.
