The Lower Water section is topping out at 5-stories. It is great to see that empty section gone.

You can directly embed your flickr images by getting the image address/URL from the download page or sharing features:

Then you need to put that URL within some bbcode image tags to make it actually appear on the page. The bbcode looks like:

I see what you mean. Even one or two holes in a streetscape like this can have a huge negative impact. There is such a difference between a consistent wall of buildings on both sites of the street and a gap-toothed streetscape of buildings mixed in with empty lots. Downtown Halifax is going to feel much nicer when it is more reliably built up and you can walk along most paths without encountering dead zones of empty lots and blank walls.

If Queen's Marque is built, along with something on the empty lot on George Street by the Dennis Building, there will be the equivalent of 32 block area or so north of Sackville Street with very little surface parking.

Soon Spring Garden Road won't have any major surface lots north of Clyde Street.

Unfortunately the stretch south of Sackville Street down to the seaport area has tons of surface lots (many of these were former industrial sites). It will probably take a long time to fill in. The Cunard block development will be one nice improvement for that area.

It is amazing how much Spring Garden Road is improving. But it would be a relief to see the Margaretta start. That builder should be able to do a better job the second time around, having practice with the Mary Ann.

Seems a little more shapely than the last design, although the roof feature looks more subdued and is apparently no longer translucent nor illuminated. This is a great development but I find it gets slightly more generic with every iteration. Also, every building looks good in a twilight rendering but it's hard to gauge how the exterior finishes might end up. We'll see I guess!

I love the cafe/restaurant/retail space on the corner.

The tower portion is extremely generic. I still think it will be an improvement for the area but it could have been more interesting. I wish the design review committee would push a bit more for more distinctive architecture, particularly when it comes to highrises.

From the renderings, I far prefer this to both Maple and Roy.

I agree, I like the various offsets and a narrowing of the tower with at finished rood detail.

It's not bad, but very BC-inspired like something you'd expect in West Van or White Rock. Which is to say, very light, airy, and nature inspired, and lacking the harder urban aesthetic of the east. Slightly suburban or resorty, but not offensively so.

In other words, not my personal taste, but it's fine and I'm sure plenty of people will like it. Much better than an empty lot.

Wow! This new rendering really looks nice with street interaction IMO, although the tower does a have a neat look of a residential building like that from 10 or more years back, somewhat BC like as stated before. If anyone ever played SimCity 2013, this rendering looks quite similar to a condo in the game. Overall, it will be dependent on how the materials hold up, but I'm liking the shape/make-up of this, if executed right.

The new renderings are now posted all over the construction fencing.
