Guys, the spire has been out of the plan for years now. We are getting the building without a spire which is fine with me. I'd be fine with a spire, but it's been confirmed it's not happening. They are already far in construction up to the roof and the plans have been finalized to not include the spire, let it go

The architectural plans we have seen (which are slightly different from the spired version) have confirmed that there will be no spire.

I don't really want the spire to be honest. NY just built one of the tallest buildings in the world and no spire was needed. It's just nearly half a kilometer of beast all the way to the roof.

Some of us just like things based on appearance, not on some arbitrary height number. This building could be 2,000 ft tall without a spire, and it would still be a bad and bland way to top the Manhattan skyline.

It would have looked better with a spire or some other more interesting crown. Oh well.

Yes, other than the height, this building was a real missed opportunity IMO.

Design wise, there is nothing special or stand out-ish about it. Forget league, it's not even on the same planet as 111 W57th.

I remember years back, when we hadn't seen renderings and a height wasn't even confirmed yet, someone with supposed inside knowledge said it would be green glass to match the summer shades of Central Park. That would have been cool. But of course there's 100's of things they could have done to make this tower more interesting.

I think truthfully, it was the coming of 220 CPS that started to turn things from what would have been a great tower. Then Nordstrom came in, and wanted open floors, which meant the core would have to shift to one side. Even still, I think it will be a nice enough looking building, especially if it were somewhere else. For the New York skyline though, this is a big miss.
