Alston, who redeveloped the Galpern Building, has two additional downtown projects planned. The first one will start "very soon", and it is near the RRC Princess Street campus. I do not know as of yet where the next one, starting in 2017, is. Perhaps the first one is beside 319 Elgin, as we saw that image of a proposal that clearly looked as if it was located in that spot.

Apparently there is a model of the pump house redevelopment in 546's office. The model shows a 6 storey wooden framed building on the lot behind, with parking below. The pump house is still being planned, most likely a mix of commercial and apartments.

Fantastic, as long as some moron doesn't try to burn it down during construction.

I was wondering about Ross. I did not see 318 listed anywhere, and 306-310 is still listed.

The Peck building being converted to residential would be my top choice.

This part of the story is key:

Quote:
Gerbasi said the PSB will not be torn down until there is a redevelopment proposal for the site, but the parkade will likely be demolished in the near future.
We're learning from the past where something would get demolished right away with no one having any idea what to do with the site.

Hopefully the redevelopment process won't take too long. I don't expect something to get built within the next 2 years, but I'd prefer that it didn't take over a decade either.

The article mentioned turning it into a "public space". So what another park?!?!?! Like market square is just around the corner.

A smaller portion than the current footprint (is this open to interpretation?) dedicated to a plaza with fountains, etc would be acceptable. The rest of the land, of course, should be replaced with low-rise buildings with storefronts along Princess.

Because the plaza that is literally right across the street isn't enough?

If there is no way around it due to the caveat, then make it different. Again, water features, etc.

Public space doesn't have to be a park. Last time we talked about this we discussed rebuilding the old farmer's market, which would count as public space. Bowman has also said he wants to make a downtown community centre, which would also fit the bill. A striking looking community centre facing Old Market Square would really bring a lot to the area.
