Also notice how that island in lake Mead became part of the mainland.

Well yeah that's what happens when the water level drops like 10 feet.

This is insane. I'd like to see something like this on Greater LA.

It looks like it almost swallowed the entire dry lake. I've seen another slideshow of Las Vegas growth but it was only the area near the airport.

Las Vegas is like a cancer, and I think it's malignant.

Actually, it dropped about 120 feet in that time period.

What has really restricted growth in Las Vegas, all along, which never had a chance to become as ungodly spread out like Phoenix, is the BLM claims 80% of the land in Nevada, even around the Las Vegas area. The BLM does its occasional auctions to auction off small parcels of land in the valley. Which is why Las Vegas is more condensed than Phoenix, far smaller lots for houses.

There IS water in Las Vegas, besides Lake Mead, lots of it, but inaccessible, that huge aquifier running under the Las Vegas Strip. Tap into that, and the Strip and the city sinks!

Well you could pump in sand while you pumped out water or something, no?
