I dunno, can't see running out of cranes ha. Maybe there are some geotechnical (or sales) issues??

Edit - walked by just now and looks like bedrock is pretty shallow at that site and they are actively excavating - to accommodate underground parking they have a way to go.

Escher on Broughton could have been a couple of stories taller:

^ Nice photos, lots going on in Vic!

To share images from Flickr, on the photo page just below and to the right of your photo, there should be an arrow pointing right:

Click on that, and then click "BBCode".

Select the image size ("Large 1024 x ..." recommended), then copy the code and paste it into your post.

Your welcome. There is a labor shortage in Victoria so I hope they all get built. Growing up in the late eighties and 90's we'd go 10 years without a single highrise go up so it's amazing to see so many highrises gowing up now. I know of young people working in some of these developments as their first jobs. As I stated I just hope they all get built. I'm waiting for the tower crane go up at 960 Yates Street a 17 story condo building. It's progessing slowly and it will be the thirteenth tower crane in Victoria.

Great to see Victoria growing. Hope it continues without prices getting too insane. Would really like to move to Victoria one day.

Greater Victoria needs to work on its transit infrastructure though.

Highway 17 should be full freeway standard to the ferries and would love to see some movement on the LRT.

They are finally building an interchange at McKenzie and the trans Canada highway.
McKenzieInterchange_Aerial_Spring2016_v01 by steven roberts, on Flickr

There is talk of making highway 17 a freeway but I havent heard of anything lately. Back in the 80's Bill Vanderzalm proposed a freeway and all of the turn offs blocked off. But the people in the penisula protested and lobbied and the proposal was dead. Then in the early 90's as part of commonwealth games part of the bid was a freeway from the airport south. but like a lot of things proposed as part of the bid never got built. Recently about 2009 the interchange at highway 17 at the airport got built. I agree it should be a freeway.

The island seems to get so little attention when it comes to infrastructure. Don't get me wrong, I do think that this project is a good step, but it would be really nice to go beyond building a single interchange every 5 to 6 years.

I agree. I think it is because the island always votes NDP. The airport needs a new longer runway. Both the airport authority and the Federal Gov't have funds available for the project but Christy Clark has said no from the province even though it has shown a positive economic impact for the capital region. and they do need to make highway 17 a freeway.

This is the thirteenth tower crane to go up currently in the greater Victoria region.
