I don't think it will have a huge effect on Denver, but it's certainly not helping RTD's case for a BRT network centered on Boulder.

The problem with Colfax is that there isn't a champion. No one (of any real power) cares enough to attach their name to it.

Edit: There are a lot of problems with Colfax at this point. This is a big one.

Remember when Boulder thought it wanted a streetcar on Pearl Street? The website is still sort of around. Sort of being the operative word. But it's a dead idea.

$15k Economic Impact Study huh?

We're getting Colfax AA for a measly $2 million.

Regarding the 15th St bikeway, which appears to be almost finished, what is the eventual plan for this past Larimer (where it currently ends)? It seems odd to end it there and not Wynkoop where there is already a bike lane and access to the CC trail. I know there is the curve at Blake but it seems the lane could continue through that and past Wazee with bike lanes on each side from Wazee to I-25. Maybe that is Phase II?

As far as I know Phase II is just adding physical protection and is not extending the 15th st Bikeway further. From what I have heard DPW is content with the Bikeway stopping at Larimer because Larimer also has access to the CC trail right after 14th. Granted you are not on a bike lane for that one block stretch of Larimer, but Larimer square in my experience serves as a traffic calming measure so it's not that bad to bike through. Unfortunately the southbound transition onto the trail from Larimer is awkward, but hopefully the city will improve that if 15th is going to be like that for a while (Small Bike turn lane from trail entrance to where the two way starts?)

Extending that 15th st bikeway further is a logistical nightmare (from Blake to Central). I have a feeling they are going to go after other projects before they try to tackle that.

I think the curve he is referring to is where they took out the two-way and did an expanded sidewalk - an anti-traffic measure to begin with.

Not the left turn on to Auraria Pwky (which is very much needed, by the way). There *is* still a highway ramp downtown; clogging up 15th to get fewer people on to it would be cutting off our nose to spite our face.

Painted conflict zones in bike lanes are very common. SF is pretty late to the game, actually. Tons of cities do it all over the world. In the US we usually use green, but other parts of the world use red or blue.

Ran across this picture today, of a small intercity train in Spain. Looks like it could be the Front Range.

I was being tongue in cheek about SFO, actually.

I see the overhead covering on the Amtrak platform (the long one), but the other platforms in the middle of the oculus still seem quite barren of overhead cover.

Still waiting.
