This is great. Whether red brick or so called scottish stone, no matter how recent or old it may be, it's all very fine.

Vive Montréal both open et libre.

^Cheeky.

Great set - a neighbourhood I know very little about. Thanks for the education.

Keep it coming. A working-class part of Montreal that is completely off the tourist beat. This shot is interesting:

Very nice pictures, zav!

Montreal always looking so pretty. I love the snowy pictures of the streets of Montreal.

Thanks for sharing and greetings from Madrid, Spain.

I wish that lower income neighborhoods in the US looked this good.

Montreal to me is closest to Philly in terms of built form. It is densely built rowhouse type housing on much of its territory. Boston has some affiliation but the grid is entirely different and the triplexes are of another order.

I know this neighborhood well for having lived there and my folks used to own buildings there. One thing I find interesting is that for a long time now, developers have scooped up the industrial properties in these hoods and turned them into great condos. I have visited a lot of them and the quality is very high. So the streets retain a lot of the multiplicity of form they had in the 1920's say at the apogee of industry in this part of town. It was a very heterogenous industrial base, where anything from candy and baked goods to submarines and locomotives, aircraft and the like were thrown together.

Gorgeous stuff. :-) And great to see a focus on an area outside the CBD.
