Ours is awful. It's just the City's Coat of Arms centered on a white background.

It features John Cabot on the left, the first European since the Vikings to discover us in 1497, and Sir Humphrey Gilbert on the right, who started Britain's overseas empire by claiming us for Elizabeth the First in 1583.

It's hard to think what a replacement could be. Anything based on the surrounding topography would be hideous, even if it did use our nationalist colours:

Anything representing the three main cultural groups could be cute but in this PC age would have difficultly being passed. And they really wouldn't be any better...

I guess a horizonal line of the rose, clover, and thistle on a white background would be an improvement, if we could get really simple, elegant designs for each of those. It'd have to be the clover on the left and the rose on the right, though, to keep the colour order in a rough match to what people know.

The old ladies would love it if we strung the symbols together as in traditional textiles:

I think the best-designed flag that would actually suit the city would be the rainbow flag, but that's already with meaning.

You got to agree with the Swede.

Detroit's is a bit of a mess. Their English lions look like pets and their fleurs-de-lis look like nothing we'd ever seen before. They should redesign them. The best bits of it are the quarters dedicated to the union flag.

I find New Orleans's as understated as stylish. Now that is a fleur-de-lis properly drawn.

Just came across this idea for a new state flag for Nevada:

Considering the current flag is this:

I find the alternate idea clearly better. What do you guys think?

You guys are laughing now but Jacksonville will soon assume its rightful place as the largest and most important city on Earth.

I heard the UN is moving its HQ there. The eiffel tower is moving there soon as well. Elon Musk even decided he didnt want to go to mars anymore after visiting.

I really like our sister city, Durham NC flag:

The Raleigh city flag is okay but something better than the seal would be good. Would be nice to keep the red since that's the color of the bus system and NC State university but something needs to replace the seal at least:

Raleigh is known as Oak City or the City of Oaks so there is a lot of acorn imagery around the city but I like the idea of an oak leaf. Here's my little redesign:

I like it. Looks like a simplification of the current flag, so it is preserving strong links to the old flag.
