I like San Diego's flag. The colors are a nod to the Spanish founding and the date is when Cabrillo sailed into the bay and claimed it for Spain.

It would probably be considered a bad flag due to the city seal.

"So bad that it's good" flag for the city of Tetris; I mean, Laval (large suburb of Montreal, Quebec).

San Diego is such an iconic city. There is so much to draw from within the city for symbolism. This is what New Mexico did to incorporate their Spanish heritage and their Native American heritage.

It's considered one of the best flags in North America. Everyone in the South West has Spanish heritage. I think a city as important as San Diego can do much better. But you know what? NYC is an even more important city and its flag is pretty much the same so, it's not like this is a priority for most people. And that is a shame because a city with a well designed flag shows that it cares about good design and that goes from flags to transit systems to everything else.

Atlanta's flag is the city seal (a rising phoenix), but it's not bad. I've seen a few redesign suggestions online:

Sadly, the terrible Provo Utah flag is no more. The city voted on a new city flag, after years of Internet mockery.

I like the current ATL flag. The new one looks like Phoenix's flag.

^ Yea, nice. I like both the burgundy color and the design of that bird, if that's actually a bird.

This is Paris's.

That ancient ship is for local rivers, the Seine and its tributaries, since river freight has been a major and historic factor in the development of the metro area.
Of course it had to be crowned with some fleur-de-lis as a city of the former monarchy.

Speaking of which, too bad the fleur-de-lis remained a monarchist political symbol here.
Being a republican, I think this would still be a fine flag for my country.

It's only historic and a well known emblem of France's identity, although the same fleur-de-lis was used in a few other countries or foreign provinces too, I believe.
But local politics makes a nonsensical symbol of it anyway.

Got those flags from this site: https://www.drapeaux-flags.com/fr

Of the major cities I've lived in ,Chicago, and Washington D.C. ,they both have such nice flags, I wouldn't change them in any way.

We'd have a good one if not for the lettering:

Source.

What we've got here is something to represent the city's Art Deco architecture, featuring the top of one of our most iconic buildings. It's a start, and while I think it's pretty good, I also think it could be better although I'm at a loss as to how to improve it.

I quite like Toronto's city flag. It's not perfect, but it isn't too cluttered and uses the silhouette of city hall as a backdrop. If it were up to me I may ditch the maple leaf but I'm not sure what would go in its place.

Interestingly enough the flag was adopted in the 1970s as a result of a design competition. Here are some of the other entries: http://www.blogto.com/city/2012/03/w...e_looked_like/

I spend time in Marseille each year, and rarely saw that flag. This one (football/soccer team), on the other hand, was very common:

^ No French city is used to show off their flag anyway. But their soccer teams, sure quite often. Especially Marseille. It is the very soccer town in France. And Lyon to a lesser extent.

Notice that in Toulouse and southwest France as a whole, they're much more about rugby. That's a good thing for allowing us to be a fair nation in that sport as well.
