After 4 disappointments in 7 seasons, I'm calling it right now - Winnipeg will be the next Canadian club to win the cup.

I know people have an emotional attachment to it, but I seriously think that the Jets name is rather lame.

I think it's an extremely cool name. Modern, short, catchy.

Hopefully if they do use the Jets name they don't create a lame patriotic logo.

Tired of seeing homebrew logos filled with maple leaves and wheat fields.

Think Calgary Hitmen when designing logos.

I also like to day-dream. Montreal, as of right now, has the best shot IMO. Van just missed its chance and all the other Canadian teams are either rebuilding or a few years away from contending, ie EDM and WPG.

Will we have both a new coach and team name next week ahead of the NHL draft?

Winnipeg Jets

Well the team definitely will not be the Winnipeg Jets. To me, not naming them the Jets is misguided and a missed opportunity. The general fan want the name, the people who paid for the boxes and season tickets want it; and even the ex pat Winnipegers are very much behind the return of the Jets. It's really too bad, TNSE have done everything correct up until now; however the most important item left they are going to mishandle. Bobby Hull, Dale Hawerchuk and Temmu Selanne nights could have been huge hits with the fan base. To bring back all these players to drop puck now will seem awkward; and could very well backfire if the team struggles under a new name.

Sometimes things just make sense; bringing back the Jets makes sense. I don't think that Mark will be happy seeing a minimum of 1500 people a night wearing Jets jerseys and yelling Go Jets Go; however unless they pull off a marketing miracle its bound to happen.

Source?

Your arguments (not just yours - we pretty well all feel the same way) make way too much sense for TNSE to ignore. Moving away from the Jets makes about as much sense as Bipole III on the west side!

Yup, great article and I love how the headline states it as a victory for hockey in Canada not just here.

Is that a seashell on the plate, or some sort of meringue?
