Calgary Aerial - 1969

Stumbled upon this. It is beyond words to compare the Calgary skyline in 1969 to today.

Calgary Tower was opened in 1967.

I think the only structure that is the same in both photos is the bridge.

What a contrast. It really speaks volumes to how Calgary in the before photo was Alberta's underdog. It was decently sized, but constantly played second fiddle to Edmonton and had noticeably less high rise development in the '60s and early '70s. By the '80s, however, Calgary would fight its way to the top and become one of the highest concentrations of commercial real estate on the continent, with a skyline that looks like it belongs in a city the size of Denver or Philly (cities 3-6X Calgary's size).

I don't. I work in the original AGT building across from Suncor.
