I think there are a lot of cool looking 4 or 5 story stand-alone office buildings being built and proposed in that area. But, man-o-man, how cool would it be if this kind of design could be applied to new office buildings in downtown Salt Lake City.

Evermore Park

[IMG][/IMG]

This development is coming along fast, it is quite large, it looks a subdivision, it has a big parking lot entrance and some footings poured for a couple of bigger buildings. I noticed a crew planting trees and shrubbery on the roads leading to it.

This is a big development going in I cannot find renderings anywhere for them but they are 2-3 story town homes. see location in the link below. They will be built on the two bigger fields. I hope other field is made into a park!

Pleasant Grove Developments

Jive Offices, the sad thing is that politics forced this Orem based company to move to PG. They were going to build a 10 story building on I-15 by 1200N Orem.
But we will get this instead.

Valley Grove is nearing completion on one of their suburban office buildings.

Ground has broken and utilities are being placed for doTERRA's massive expansion.

I think Evermore is a really interesting concept. And Utah IS probably the most fantasy-obsessed state in the country, so it makes sense. It just feels like one of those things that will have a hard time making a profit. Amusement parks are expensive. I hope the best for it though!

Thought some of you would like to know that the bridge to connect front runner station in Orem and the west campus of UVU will be starting construction this year.

https://utahvalley360.com/2017/04/27...r-station-uvu/

Also, in the 25 year master plan for the campus, UVU will be moving all athletic buildings and fields to the vineyard locations. Currently that location is where intermerial fields are for the school and across the street is a megaplex.

I’m not sure if they will move all of those faucilities in 25 years. The baseball field is only 10 years old. The UCCU center is like 17 years old and is a great billboard for the school. Plus I don’t think the Orem owlz would like to move from a freeway location.

Lawmakers unveil 5 growth scenarios for Point of the Mountain, seek public input

Link to the scenarios

Quote:
State lawmakers on Tuesday unveiled five options to plan for growth at the Point of the Mountain. The area near the border of Salt Lake and Utah counties is quickly becoming a focal point in Utah for the economy and future.

The Utah Legislature's Point of the Mountain Development Commission developed the five planned-growth scenarios with various mixes of housing, business, retail and open space.

"The challenge for leaders of our state is to try to plan in advance to maximize the positive things that can occur in that area, not just manage the growth but also facilitate good economic growth," said Rep. Lowry Snow, R-St. George, who co-chairs the commission.

The Point of the Mountain and surrounding area is home to more than 20,000 acres of undeveloped land, which will likely be developed in the next 30 years. With land in demand, the future availability of the 700 acres where the Utah State Prison is, is also an important component to the future but not a specific focus of this study.

"We think, based on that information and opinions of the experts with Envision Utah, that we can get a handle of four to five different scenarios of what this area could look like by 2050," Snow said.

Overall, the commission believes what this area needs is a balanced approach that allows economic growth that is healthy and sustainable and has the taxpayer funding it will take to do it right.

"There are some significant costs, including public transportation and road development," Snow said.

Now the public has a chance to give input before decisions are made that will impact the area for decades to come. Public meetings are scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 29, at 6 p.m. at Ashton Gardens at Thanksgiving Point, 3900 Garden Drive in Lehi; and on Thursday, Nov. 30, at 6 p.m. at the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium, 12033 S. Lone Peak Parkway in Draper.

University Downs

Here is more info on the development above
I think that the bigger building nearest to the freeway is a possible hotel???
looks to be around 15 stories tall or so.

The area is in dire need of student housing.

Thanks Danske for keeping us updated on these important developments. Not surprised at all at the explosive growth of UVU. I think we all suspected that's what would happen. Hopefully this major addition to student housing will help to at least begin to catch up with the shortage. Glad to see it happen, and at an excellent location.

Bridge to Connect UVU to Orem Station

This bridge will connect the developments on the Westside of the freeway to UVU and help the area to further develop.

The half-mile long bridge will feature elevators an enclosed bike-path and pedestrian walkway, connecting UVU's ever-expanding campus with the Orem Frontrunner Station.

I hope they decide to build the bridge below it looks more uniform than the above.

Absolutely no chance that this actually happens, but I think we're obligated to talk about it anyway, right?

Company proposes ‘island paradise,’ to be built on Utah Lake

UTAH COUNTY - A private group is pushing for an island city in the middle of Utah Lake, with the end goal of restoring the state's largest body of fresh water.

One of the directors of The Arches Utah Lake Restoration Project is from Utah, and helped develop island city in Dubai.

They've spent nearly ten years on a proposal, and this week, took it to the state for approval to move forward.

The state has funded several programs in attempt to clean up the lake, and get rid of the algae, the invasive grasses and certain types of carp. Still, the effort has only made a dent.

“The price tag for the conservation efforts alone is 6.4 billion dollars and that's why the public can't bear the cost of this,” Parker said.

Their plan is to make an island city shaped like the iconic delicate arch, with homes and businesses. The group argues this plan isn't a land grab, but an attempt to restore the area for generations to come.
