My mistake, I forgot Phoenix SSP posters aren't the critical crew.

I digress...

Here's an updated aerial of downtown - a little blurry:

I don’t have business journal but do they have offices in that building that they’re closing too?

Some of these guys don't get it. This is real life, not Sim City!

No according to the article. If you want to be able to view the article, just hit the escape key before the page completes loading. It takes a little bit of timing to get it right.

The corporate offices will remain in the tower but the branch itself is closing. I guess this means more ground-floor space will be freed up, possibly for co-working or retail.

I just refreshed the page and did a quick select all (Ctrl+A) and copy (Ctrl+C) and posted it to notes. From what the article said only the branch itself is closing but the offices in the building will remain.

US Bank Tower renovations are detailed here:

It seems they have a decent retail lineup.

The list is a little deceptive. M'Ole and Bunz are the same place. You just order from the former menu if you want a taco and from the latter if you prefer a burger. The counter, kitchen, and dining room are all the same. Some of the other places like the Monroe have been dark since March. Even before the pandemic, I had a sense that there wasn't much of a plan for the restaurant spaces facing First Avenue. The guy who runs M'Ole / Bunz seems to be sticking it out even as things change all around him. It helps that his tacos are pretty good.

That makes sense with Phoenix being a car centric city, i guess I got envious of the Las Vegas rendering because I feel with the Superbowl and other major events happening in the future in downtown Phoenix that a hotel like this would be absolutely huge for downtown. But I have to be realistic and say we will get another 200' foot hotel from Atari somewhere in the Roosevelt District.

The hotels in Vegas are in a totally different environment than a hotel in any other city.

Single properties in Vegas will have more hotel rooms than most cities. Wondering why we can’t get a casino hotel the size of a Vegas hotel downtown is like asking why we don’t get Shanghai style skyscrapers.

It’s not comparable

The Monroe bar has been open since March. I think they been trying to get like The Lux, Monarch crowd in there. I think their promoters From Lux have tried to have club type nights there, difficult with COVID. Although since the new construction I haven’t seen much happening there.
