^I heard today from a friend that they would not have glass until August. Seems like the window consultant for both this and One Grant Park are the same and has a tendency to move the goal posts which has made passing the performance mockup difficult. This is creating significant contractual issues with the window contractors which is why the glass contractor on OBP was replaced. Seems like McHugh building structures with no glass is a pattern. WPW, Mila, OGP, Vista...

Glass

The director at the sales center stated glass would be installed later this month. She was accurate about a new web cam installation so I suspect she is reliable about this information also.

I quite like seeing the hulking mass of concrete continue to grow. We're getting our very own Ryugyong Hotel. The brutalist concrete structure just amplifies the magnitude of the tower. Once the glass starts up it'll look less imposing. I'm OK with this trade-off for the time being.

I was thinking the same thing about it looking like the ryugyung hotel. This one being much more bulky though. The last one we had was 111 wacker. The sooner the glass, the bigger sigh of relief. Easy everybody, I'm not trying to start a long three page discussion of the fonance of vista. Haha.
Vistas concrete seems much darker than other rises going up currently. Im sure it has to do with the thickness, weight sustainability, curing process and many other factors. Or maybee its just because weve had a wet and rainy winter.

McHugh is one hell of a GC, they just have a lot on their plate I'm guessing. Tishman, on the other hand, runs a very tight ship. Granted this is steel vs concrete at Vista, the Glass at 1 Manhattan West is keeping pace 4 levels below fireproofing.

That is exactly what they are. They are essentially the same systems as the platforms climbing ahead to form / pour the shearwalls, reusing the same anchor points. Except instead of working on the forms from the top platform, the window installer will work from the lowest trailing level installing the glass.

They did 2 floors during the last 8 days on the main section. Considering the weather last week was the worst it's been in 3 years that's pretty good.

The cranes are already visible from Kennedy, the superstructure should be making it's presence known from many angles by early summer.

^I think it would have originally, but they reduced the height from 16 to 13. I think you will see some of that wall now.

I don't see why they wouldn't cover the concrete up with windows/curtain wall. This is a (if not the) trophy tower of the LSE megaproject. Having 3 floors of painted concrete would really look out of place, and hopefully the developers agree.

I can't imagine them leaving it there, I would think it would be worth the extra money to cover it up and have the tower look 100% whole and thought out

Wow, the structure is already miles ahead of where the curtainwall should be. If not commencing till August that will put the structure another 6 months ahead, around another 40+ floors from where it is now...
