I guess I should get over there soon for some photos of the views. I would suggest everyone do it who cares to. I'm not sure what to expect with the new development.

I don't go that far south very often so I'm having a hard time remembering what Lamar Plaza looks like today which makes the rendering hard to decipher. If someone can lead me to a picture post of Lamar Plaza, it will save me a long drive just to see it.

That was my thought, too. Then again, maybe the developer thought a bowling alley wasn't quite "upscale" enough for this development.

I honestly don't see the point of having it if there is no bowling alley. Might as well shut it down and open up another one somewhere else. The Mission District here in SF opened a bowling alley just like the Highball. Austin's losing its hipness.

Thanks Kevin. It looks like it could use a face lift. After the bowling lanes are gone, where will the closest bowling alley be? How many lanes does Highball have?

When I was 15 or 16, still in High School, I would go work with my brother in law in Victoria, TX. We also happened to be in a bowling tournament in which we won 2nd place.

Needless to say, I resent your statement and I hope you get a papercut or hit your pinky toe on the doorpost late at night when you get up to use the restroom.

The Zach Scott Topfer Theatre is pretty much done. They had a few galas this week. I wish I had known, I wouldn't have minded going for some photos.

I'm hoping mid-rise means at least 15 floors, but somehow I can't imagine anything over 8 floors getting built there. In that case, it would be a waste of a Taco Cabana. I do think apartments makes more sense there than a hotel which would be pretty isolated from where most of the city attractions are.

It's planned to have 6 floors. I don't have a height for it yet, but I would imagine it'll be between 65 and 80 feet tall.

It figures. Not a midrise in my book, more like a low rise. It will barely poke out over the tree line. I'm curious about the design. Hopefully not too boxy and not too S Lamarish.

Anything will look good when compared to the Topfer Prison across the street.
