Yeah, I'd say it is representative of Hamilton's neighborhoods of that era. You'd find buildings that style throughout the downtown, and also in the west end of the city.

I find commie blocks much less repulsive in Marseille than in Canadian cities. Thinking about it, probably because in pale colors, they integrate better with traditional Mediterranean architecture.

Up close, the commie blocks in Marseille are worse than most in Canada. Truly wretched, broken-down neighbourhoods.

La Savine is quite a hopeless place :

Some of the very longest commie blocks I have ever seen are found in Marseille (aka St. John's according to some wits on this page).
