There had been a steady flow of those ~18-story student apartment buildings for several years. But the pipeline has pretty much dried up as far as I can tell. It appears that the only one not yest started is The Mark (Standard II) which will begin with the University Towers implosion next weekend. Hopefully developers are retooling their project announcement for the new 300' height limit. But then again the area allowing for the maximum height is largely built out now and available building sites are limited. I'm disappointed but not surprised that the City Council refused to expand the area with the 300' height limit.

There was a PDF posted to the AULCC page yesterday showing a student housing project at 1911 San Antonio Street at the St. Austin Catholic School. This would be at the southeast corner of West 21st & San Antonio streets immediately north of the Otis Hotel. I'm including quotes below from three older posts about this project.

All of the approved 17/18-story apartment buildings that maxed out the old West Campus height limit seem to be underway or completed. There are two newer projects that may take advantage of the new 300' height.

The first one is a student housing project proposed for the St. Austin site that Kevin mentions in the previous post. This is directly behind the new Marriott that opens this month.

ftp://ftp.ci.austin.tx.us/ATD_AULCC/.../200130/PLANS/

The second one is the Greystar Union Apartments proposed for 24th & Rio Grande. This was posted for AULCC on Friday.

The Greystar Union would be on this site right next to the imploded University Towers:

It appears the lot at 601 W 26th is going to be the site of another high-rise in Wampus. Demolition permit application went in the other day.

According to Google Maps that's where "The Old Grocery Store" is. Not a particularly architecturally significant building but it does appear to be historic. I've always wondered what the story is behind that building. Was it actually a grocery store?

Cascade Condos - 2500 Longview St

Here we go. First WC project not geared towards student housing. Hope to see more.

Located on North Lamar Boulevard and just moments away from some of Austin’s most beautiful parks and trails, Cascade Condominiums provides an urban retreat for young professionals, millennials, empty nesters, and never-nesters in the heart of the city. Situated on a beautiful, rolling green hill that spills out onto one of Austin’s most iconic thoroughfares, Cascade offers the perfect blend of urban and nature. Residents can jog along Shoal Creek, take the dog for a walk at Pease Park, or head to Lady Bird Lake for kayaking and paddleboarding. If the best bars, shops, and restaurants that Austin has to offer is what they crave, it’s only a short jaunt to some of the city’s top locales along Lamar Boulevard or Downtown Austin. At Cascade, residents can have the best of both worlds with the greenspace they love in a location they desire.

The caveat is that this project is about as close to the edge of WC as you can get.

When I lived at Axis across the street, it felt more like north campus than west campus at times. And with N. Lamar being right there, I bet the people who will live here could avoid campus altogether.

It would be the third if the rendering is correct. But LV is using the address as the name on the website.

A site plan was filed today for a residential building called The Chelsea. Based on its location near 25th & San Gabriel, it could be ~14-stories based on the new height limits.

Union on 24th

This could be another 300 footer for WC: Union on 24th. The developer is Greystar, and plans (without height info) were filed for AULCC in January. The site plan was only filed on 03/20. It's described on the site plan application as both office and condo. For AULCC it was described as student housing.
