As another posted stated, might as well just leave the tower crane up there. A tribute to Austin success.

Is the purported lawsuit slowing down work at the Fairmont? That crane hasn't moved in about a month and work on the building seems to have slowed to a crawl. Maybe work is moving ahead on the inside but the outside has an almost abandoned look about it. I don't like it at all.

There are many lurkers in this forum, some who may even have insider info. Would like to know exactly what is going on and when we will see work on the exterior pick up as well as when the spire will be installed. Don't be shy people, we know your here...

Here's your insider info: I talked to a construction worker on my way home when I was stopped at a stoplight. Asked him about the spire, and he said (and I'm paraphrasing here) "shit, that will be one of the last things I think. I'm working on the 7th floor where theyre putting a pool. We're all mostly doing the inside of the building, but I think the spire will be sometime this summer."

Not sure if he was someone who would know the answer, or if this was just one guy's best guess, but hey, it's all I got.

Good to know that there is interior work continuing. I guess I'm just getting impatient with wanting to see this tower complete.

I think all of us on this site have a serious lack of patience... You are not alone, friend.

Not me. I'd hate to see the crane come down...it adds back some of the height from the original rendering.

Noticed this afternoon that the base of the spire is up. Pretty thick. Looks as if it should end up being taller than the crane - especially if the spire tapers down toward the top.

The spire is going up. A large piece - maybe 1/3 of it - is dangling from the crane.

Here it is from my balcony on Rainey. It's definitely going to be yuuuge.

By the way, so much for my "inside information" from the construction worker. He tells me later in the summer, turns out it's one day after we chat...

EDIT: Sorry for the giant picture.
