The damn bike path. I've been waiting forever for that thing to open. I'm sick of riding on the sidewalk

Dang, that would be a huge change to the Wolf Point area. I say leave it the way it is; most of those colors, on that imposing hulk, would be too dry and cold (maybe the whitest one would work). If it was a more glassy structure I might think otherwise, but those floor slabs / spandrels are fairly heavy and imposing.

They'd definitely have to change the color of the window frames. The brownish bronze looks awful against those grays

I think the middle one (the off white color) could work.

Good article about the amazing, JGMA-designed new building in Brighton Park that will 'house Chicago nonprofits that work with underserved populations.' It will break ground this summer, according to the article.

^ Curbed also has an updated article to piggyback on Crain's regarding the groundbreaking for later this summer, and they have a bigger render of the north elevation:

https://chicago.curbed.com/2017/6/13...th-center-jgma

However, there was an interesting comment about a new 'Mansueto High School' (charter), that is already under construction on the adjacent lot; I found the design for that on Wheeler Kearns website:

http://wkarch.com/project/mansueto-high-school/

Love seeing developments like these on the South side!

Broadway is in the midst of a sewer replacement that is running from Irving Park Road to Belmont. Also branching down a few side streets like Grace as well which is where Broadway and Halsted meet.

Unless they're talking about this which is just north of Halsted and Broadway

https://chicago.curbed.com/2016/11/2...adway-sheridan

then this is right across the street

https://chicago.curbed.com/2017/4/4/...o-construction

They're both well underway and impossible to miss.

NIMBYs are going nuts in our city. Someone needs to stand up to this BS. Seriously, complaining about what's on the roof???

Quote:
Some Streeterville residents have slammed the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago for being a bad neighbor, pointing to the addition of mechanical equipment on the rooftop within eyesight of condo windows and damage to a nearby park where the MCA recently held a gala.

Residents in high-rise condos on Pearson Street, steps away from the historic Water Tower and overlooking the four-story museum at 220 E. Chicago Ave., have voiced their opposition to Ald. Brian Hopkins about the Lake Shore Park damage and equipment placed on the roof for a new museum restaurant. They've pushed for the equipment to be removed or relocated, and have raised concerns about potential problems such as odors, traffic and noise.

Wouldn't be great if they replaced the panels with stainless steel look and kept black windows...would be nice if they thought outside the box of just greys and whites..or blue glass..

"Grey, the new beige!"

What are you talking about? Grey paneling hasn't been used much at all this cycle

The roof issue is crazy but I'll at least give them the park issue. We get about a dozen decent days of weather a year in the city and when a private organizatization hosts a 1 day event that puts the park out of commission for over a month it's pretty ridiculous.
