looks gigantic stacked against Crystale de la Montagne. Not my favorite design, but certainly some great infill.

Not only is this building short, but completely short-sighted. Sorry, Crystal.

Height aside, I don't actually mind Le Crystal. Sure it is a little cheesy, but so is Altitude with its little "hat" (as is using the name "Altitude" for what really isn't that tall of a project). I actually prefer Le Crystal to Altitude, I think.

It's not only in Montreal that we have cheezy condo names

From the economist
Quote:
THERE was a time when the names of posh condominiums in Singapore were just pompous (“The Legacy”) or cheesy (“Rhapsody on Mt Elizabeth”). At least they were in a recognised language. Developers seem to have decided that only neologisms can do justice to their latest creations. Arise “Foresque Residences” (every day will be “filled with never-ending wonderment”); “Illuminaire on Devonshire”; “The Foresta@Mount Faber”; “The Trizon”; and “The Waterina” (with a “sanctuary-like water court”). No longer mere buildings, these are “new residential typologies”.

But I agree that Icone will make Le Crystal look outdated, but hey that's the beauty of organic development of a city isn't it? Not everything is the same, and we can see that different periods in which the buildings were erected!

I wholeheartedly agree. Variety is key to an attractive city!

I took this picture pf the Icone site, 2012. Can't wait for this site to break ground.

Damn, that looks hot. But I'm not in favor of boasting the "amazing views on the city". What will happen when they want to build another highrise facing this one to improve density, thus to enrich the neighborhood and increase its activity? Well, you'll see the fierce nimbies stand up and grumbling - don't touch my view, assholes! Views are an urban nonsense to impoverish entire neighborhoods, people shouldn't take them as forever granted.

Gotta love that quality! Cant wait to see the new renderings, this one dates from before the height increases.

I was under the impression Icone got boosted up to 45 from its original height of 38. You can even count 37-38 floors on the renders posted above.
