Hamilton | West Avenue School Residences | 2011

- The project included converting West Avenue School (built in 1885) into 27 affordable housing apartment units. The gymnasium that was added on to the front of the building in the 1950s could not be removed without leaving a hole in the building's façade, so it was converted into 6 loft style units.

That school is such a cool structure. I'm wonder what's up with all the (what looks like) garage doors at the back.

The garages are parking spots/storage for the residents of the building. They look old, but they're new. They were built to match the school.

Hmm, looks good. Certainly 10x better than outdoor surface parking.

There's something about this one that I really dig. Very understated, classy design. Miles ahead of its neighbour to the right or the other two in your post.

Looks like a stubbier version of every other low-end/mid-range condo built in the GTA in the past decade.

Those other two are just awful. Shades of the Laval Clocktower on the one...
