Isn't he the one who fought long and hard to maintain the practice of beginning city council meetings with a prayer? A leading light of Quebec liberalism....

He's also a... friend of Canada. He's always in conflict with the PQ for example, in spite of the region he's in.

He's also very proud of claiming that he never reads anything!

Rob Ford appointed to Hockey Hall of Fame’s board of directors

Why?

Why?

WTF???

best comment so far:

"Ford said in an interview on Saturday that he has a lot of experience in the hockey world and wanted to help promote the sport to children."

Besides getting drunk and belligerent at Leafs games, what other experience could he possibly have?
First George Strombolopoulos and now this. I hate the NHL.

There's hope yet for Bob Probert and Dave Williams to make the hall of fame.

Actually, they probably should be in. They actually scored some points as well. How about Tie Domi and Stu Grimson.

Based on the TSN reporters last sunday, the city of Toroton is required to provide members of council for the HHOF BOD. Their decision of who to nominate has nothing to do with the NHL or HHOF. I suppose the justification was what is something that can keep Ford busy and screw up things the least.

But yeah, continue to blame the NHL or who ever you want. Everything is Bettmans fault.

It doesn't really matter anyway. So he gets appointed to some obscure board that probably doesn't do a lot that would impact the city. Better there than anywhere else he used to be a board member of.

Yep - councillors have to be a member of at least 1 (? or maybe more) boards. Best to put Ford somewhere that keeps him happy and he can't actually do anything.

Councillor Rob Ford, whose tumultuous four years as mayor of Toronto turned him into an international cultural phenomenon, died on Tuesday at Mount Sinai Hospital. He was 46.

Official word of his death came from a source close to the family. His passing marks the end of a rare political actor whose everyman persona, budget-slashing agenda and very public substance-abuse issues inspired both intense loyalty and deep loathing among the city’s diverse electorate.

It also ends an 18-month struggle with cancer.

This is sad. As bad as we was as a mayor, he didn't deserve to die so young.

R.I.P Mr Ford.

Hopefully your family namely your brother doesn't milk this situation for media attention but I have serious doubts that's even possible.

This is very sad, I did not agree with his politics, or care for him as a person, But I feel sad that his life ended up in such tragedy. I hope some people aren't cheering his passing, as everyone deserves respect at their time of death regardless.

Doug Ford is a family man, he loved his brother.
