Hudson Spire is a 62-65 floor office tower. Even if a flat roof, that's at least 1,200 ft. in Manhattan these days, with the floor heights, and probably more like 1300-1400 ft. when you look at other office towers going up.

Nordstrom Tower to Become World’s Tallest Residential Building at 1,775 Feet

Probably will become New York's first tallest to have a roof higher than the Sears in Chicago. Things are going to continue to change rapidly for the skyline.

Yep. I love it how the boom is spreading to the other boroughs. Especially JC and DT Brooklyn deserve a much better skyline. Imagine Lower Manhattan with the new WTC flanked by two supertalls on each side!

220 CPS is under construction! Photos and CTBUH confirm it. With 217W57th I'm not so sure ...

I'll update the first page.

I don't know about that.

You are right that floor heights are pretty big especially for office nowadays but something like HY South Tower is 52 floors with a slanted roof, which means that this, with 9 more floors could be in the 1000-1100 range with a big roof structure or crown.

It could end up being a stunning building but as far as height goes it likely won't be that iconic unless they attach a 500 foot spire or something, God forbid.

I will not be surprised if this building ends up having a large spire. In fact, i would welcome it. None of the Hudson yards towers have a spire.

Does anyone know when Wanda will supposedly build a $1 Billion hotel?

Other cities have been announced except for New York City. Apparently it was supposed to be announced in the third quarter of 2013 per this website.

Quote:
Wanda Group, China's largest commercial real estate developer, aims to invest about $1 billion to build a five-star hotel in New York as its third major investment outside its home market, Chairman Wang Jianlin said on Tuesday.

The company is now in talks with potential partners for construction of a Wanda hotel and an adjacent apartment building in New York, Wang told Reuters.

"It will be announced this year, probably in the third quarter if everything goes smoothly," he said in an interview in his Beijing headquarters overlooking the Chinese capital's busiest boulevard

^^^

I haven't heard about it at all when it comes to NY in terms of an official rendering or site. Given the track record of the Beijing developer, it is safe to say that they will commit as of now, I can't think of any major news relating to Wanda in NYC.

But given the status of the city, I would expect a supertall. If Chicago gets one, NYC sure as hell will.

^Yeah so true, thanks for pointing that out.

Maybe the site assemblage/air rights jumbo is delaying the project.

My guess is that Wanda will build somewhere on the West Side/Hudson Yards area. But we'll have to wait and see.
