I’ll be taking a photo later this week. It will show that columns for tower 3 are almost done and they should soon start work on transfer slab, that will take another couple of month ish before we can see floor plates.

We should see floorplates soon on those ones.

Towers 1 and 2 always had straight edges.
1 & 2; James K M Cheng. Square and rectangular towers: Amazing Brentwood, River Green.

3 & 4; Francl Architecture. Curvy towers: Aquilini Centre South, The Arc.

I can think of Francl designed buildings that aren't curvy (West in SEFC for example), but I'm struggling to think of anything from the Cheng office that isn't predominantly rectilinear.

Less curvy than the Francl version. The unbuilt version was an extruded rectangle, squeezed round a curve.

Cheng did Palisades for Westbank.

He would have also done the curving theatre structure at Amazing Brentwood.

His other projects like the Concord Marinaside towers and 888 Beach have curved elements, but aren't 'organic' in form.

Francl designed TV Towers (@ CBC) which are also more organic with curved corners.

Tower 1, only 3 floors left.
Tower 3, the scaffolding for the transfer slap is going along nicely as well.

Some more photos I took after work yesterday.
Tower 3 scaffolding made even more progress by the end of the day.

Tower 1 is looking big, especially considering it will be the shortest tower of phase 1.

Tower 1. The pace slowed down to two weeks per floor, likely due to the penthouse level having different columns configuration. Only 2 floors left to go.

It doesn't look so massive from Metrotown but this is a massive project in person.

Massive scale issues aside, I find it quite elegant the way they taper the corners of the transfer slab - most transfer slabs are needlessly dumb looking.

I refer the tower 1 floor plan, their first home level is start at 3rd floor. If 1st = 3rd floor then they already finished the top floor or the 44th floor. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Wasn't that tower taller? Seems like they finished the floor for level 45?

2021, March 26.
Tower 1. It is obvious now that those tall columns are ether for the crown or penthouse.

Since this is the most prominent project currently underway in Brentwood, here is an update from last week.

Looks like Metro Vancouver finally got a "downtown freeway" cityscape.
Just need more office towers.

I thought exactly that. I love the big city vibe this provides. Metro Vancouver finally going mainstream in feeling.
