Hidden within that hyper modern cluster of high-rises lurks a Dickensian underworld of unfortunates caught up in a Hobbesian tussle for every scrap and bone they can grab, scam or steal. The dark, dank streets reek of desperation and wasted lives. It is a hopeless morass. A gaping maw of inhumanity.

Some of the setbacks aren't so urban friendly, either.

You can get by without a car in Saint-Lambert. Blainville it is not.

Saint-Lambert is directly across the river from downtown Montreal, after all. A short bike ride, either across the Jacques Cartier or via the Concorde Bridge and Parc Jean-Drapeau across the St. Lawrence Seaway.

The vast majority of Saint-Lambert is grid pattern and sidewalks. It was built as a streetcar suburb between the 1910s and 1950s.

Saint-Lambert is served by a commuter rail station in its downtown (the last stop before Central Station), as well as different bus routes that run along most major streets to/from the Longueuil Metro (15 minute intervals on most routes, and 30 minutes off-peak during the week - although most people have multiple bus lines nearby, meaning the wait is not usually that long). The streets themselves are not particularly wide, and vehicular traffic is quite low.

St Lambert is the best part of the South Shore. I lived there in 1970-72. The worst part could be St. Hubert. I hate that place. Had a gf out there once...ten thousand years on some godforsaken bus from Longueuil bus terminal (the armpit of Quebec) to the outer reaches of Phobos, or Montee St. Hubert; same difference.

How tall is the tallest there? From this angle this could be Canada's 5th best skyline

LOL. I love it - if the bus terminal is the armpit of Quebec, then Laval is the asshole of Quebec.
