Woof, everything I dislike about the south core epitomized in one succinct picture.

The most prominent things in that shot are a construction site and an off-ramp that's scheduled to be demolished, so that view is bound to look significantly different in a few years.

I don't know. I've never been a fan of Rene Levesque, it's not near what it could be.

Always sort of struck me as a half assed, poor man's University Avenue. They can try to make it seem more important by calling it a "boulevard" but it's always struck me as nothing more than a wide street with offices down it.

On a different not..........is that above photo Toronto? The only thing I can recognize is the billboards that might make it Dundas Square.

Yup, canyon is Yonge Street. You can see 2 Queen East and Pantages Tower on the right.

Luckily that will change in a couple of years with all the constructions on R-L.

Rene-Levesque has a promising future. Just off the top of my head I can list:

1. Roccabella: 147m, 147m
2. Icone: 146m, 107m
3. YUL: 120m, 120m
4. Babylone: 120m, 80m
5. Renaissance hotel: 30 floors
6. New residential tower on Anderson/ R-L: 28 floors
7. CHUM office tower: 17 floors
8. O'Nessy: 15 floors
9. +a bunch of mid rises planned in and around the Radio-Canada/CBC lands.

+maybe the Point Zero tower?

Some solid infill and height to be added in the near future.

That will certainly improve the urban canyon but the street itself is so much less than it could be.

^ The 60 storey Massey Tower and a 40 storey apartment tower (crane visible) will add significant density to that view in a couple of years.

That street looks good until you look up past the podiums. If only the towers weren't set back and carried on with the same architecture of the first 3 floors this would be an attractive street.

Nope. Nothing but site prep so far. The next two towers have sold over 520+ units between them so I imagine that they'll be starting excavation work as soon as possible.

Rene-Levesque lacks a terminated vista on either end, and worse, it doesn't go anywhere. It dies miserably at both east and west ends.

^I was talking about University Ave. (Toronto), not University street here in Montreal.

Anyways University ave. and University st. have no similarities whatsoever.

My bad, I agree they're not similar.

With the transformation of the Bonaventure Expressway into an urban boulevard, Montreal will finally have a real prestigious entrance. Let's hope for the best.
