Nice progress on the last few days

Yesterday they worked all night and started to install steel on the SE corner of the memorial.

Also, it seems that they are preparing to pure concrete on the the rest the north pool (They removed equipment from the part of the pool that is without concrete.

The PATH lines will remain where they are. The memorial structure will be built above that. Original plans called for openings to allow day and sunlight onto the PATH tracks, but that would have required less tree planting in the area and the idea was dropped. The above ground entrance to the station/mall will be at the bottom-center of that pic, between the planned towers 2 and 3.

I was under the impression that there was going to be 2 pools. I can see one south of tower one, where will the other be?

Yeah, they're setting up crane space over the lower concourse levels(bottom left hand corner of that picture), so it should be clearly visible in a few months. Without 1WTC's chamfered corners, it's nice to see that the pools and the tower are the same size.

Large steel pieces are being installed today near the path tracks (where the roof was recently taken off).

Very nice to see the last big holes starting to fill up. Really want the south pool to look like the north pool sometime soon. Practically ignored all summer (in terms of new steel).

Status of excavation for the Transit Hub

Recently virtually all of the equipment working on the excavation for the Transit Hub has left. Is that it? I thought they would be working until the area was flat. Other kind(s) of equipment to move in to continue the work?

Maybe they're prepping the site for blasting. That level surface is bedrock, and all they moved away was the HM terminal that used to be there.

Either that or they've bottomed out and they're gong to start concrete prepping.

It's possible that since it's only the transit terminal and not a tower going in there that the hole doesn't need to be as deep as the rest of the site.

Thought i'd do a quick preview of what the memorial should eventually look like, its not the best but it kinda highlights just how much progress has took place over the last year and what has still to be done.

Pretty awesome.

Fulton St. will probably be wider than that, but otherwise it looks accurate.

Morrongiello's pictures

Morrongiello's picture from today.

A. Really nice progress on the south part above the PATH lines
B. They finished to pure the north pool (except some of the walls)

Regards,
Tal.

The excavation for the Transit Hub has resumed in the past few days, with a noticeable hunk of the remaining mound chipped away.

Speaking of the #1 Train box, it looks as if they've just poured a segment of concrete beneath it northeast of the tower 4 site tonight, from the earthcam.
