Here is confirmation that it is not a 2nd tower crane.

Anyone have any intel on ETA for Curtis Center renovations. They are adding apartments as well as retail/restaurants. But it seems to be going very slowly.

EDIT: I guess it was maybe always supposed to be Summer 2017.

I can look into it. You want to know the expected finish?

I know they were getting held up in the parking garage installing a new elevator, in addition to other things. About a month ago they were installing the new decorative beams in the lobby/courtyard venue.

Imports at Philadelphia port at all-time high in January

http://www.philly.com/philly/busines...n-January.html

Quote:
Cargoes were up 20 percent in January at the Philadelphia port, and containerized freight in 20- and 40-foot metal containers was up 34 percent, the best month ever, port officials said.

Imports increased 5.4 percent across all the nation's ports in January on higher shipments from Europe and China, said the research firm Panjiva, which tracks commercial shipments worldwide. In Philadelphia, the biggest increases were in goods from Chile, Panama, and Peru, said Christopher Rogers, an analyst with the firm.

...

The increased volume has meant more work for longshoremen and laborers in the warehouses. "Man-hours were close to all-time highs in January," said Tom Holt Jr., president of Holt Logistics.
It also says the port is taking on business that used to go to Baltimore and New Jersey. Dredging of the river should be completed this year which will bring larger ships, and the state recently announced a $300 million commitment to the port. Good news all around!

Yep, I'd be interested in hearing if they are on track for a summer deliverable. Thanks.

Anyone know if this planned development next to the Temple is being 100% funded by the Mormons?

If so, they're fast becoming a great asset to this city.

Looks like they will be really well done if the renders are representative.

17th & Wood

I like them. I wish it was something denser/taller, but I like the design. Looks like the parking lot, Flynn Co. building, and luxury car shop will remain unfortunately. Hopefully these can be packaged together and bought in the future for something denser facing 16th Street. Here are the renderings:

I have very little hope of these changes happening. As other area's of the city continue to gentrify, I see the Northeast and many sections of the far Northeast heading in the opposite direction.

Do you have facts to back this up or is it just speculation? The Northeast is a massive swath of the city, certain neighborhoods are definitely in decline, but the whole thing?

Yes

https://www.phillypolice.com/crime-maps-stats/

Feel free to look at the statistics over the past 7 years or so. The overall Northeast has had more crime. Now if you want to break it down per neighborhood be my guess. I have lived in several and see the day to day decline.

Feel free to join one of the many Northeast Social pages as well that speak about many of the neighborhood issues.

Do you live in the Northeast?

I don't live in that section of the city, but there's a pretty good visualization tool on philly open data:
https://www.opendataphilly.org/datas...4-73bcf1974dea

You can filter by area of the city, specific crime types, etc. Is there a specific crime type? It looks pretty unchanging overall since 2006 at least.
