National World War I Monument, Union Cemetery, Union Hill KCMO

Photos from last summer at Liberty Memorial, the national WWI memorial and museum, just south of downton Kansas City, MO:

Nearby in Penn Valley Park, the Scout Statue

This statue is the basis for the logo of the briefly lived NHL Kansas City Scouts:

Just to the east of Liberty Memorial is the Union Hill Neighborhood:

There was something going on that day that inspired someone to dress as a Ninja Turtle. Not really sure why:

Love! I've been in kc so much these days (significant other) and am really impressed. St. Louis could learn a thing or two from our sister city to the west!

definitely. we are sort of entrenched over here in our bunker - us against outstate - and i imagine kansas city (mo) is similar with it's kansas vs missouri thang that we overlook opportunities to work together and learn.

It's really surprising and unfortunate how much outstate (not a term we use here in KC) dominates the state legislature. The two cities really should do a better job uniting for common goals.

Great pics. I like the bricks and colorful look of the Union Hill hood. I must get out to KC sometime. Thanks for the tour.

Great photos! I'll need to check out the Union Hill area at some point.

That is one of my favorite skyline views of any city in the country. Not only is the skyline amazing, but all those beautiful brick buildings with great architecture surrounding the skyline just jump at me. Missouri really does have 2 great gems!
