The city looks great! Thanks for the photos. I can't figure out why there is one, much less three, photos of KFC though.

I tihnk KFC opened its first Hanoi branch quite recently, having been present in HCMC for at least a couple of years. That might be why.


Anyway, I lööve Hanoi - such a beautiful city. I spent two weeks there back in 2006, and I can safely say that I don't regret one minute.

Vietnam and especially such street-level urban shots is a new experience to me. Perhaps not too long before I'll get to see it for myself.

P.S. I'm surprised by the success of the Western fast-food chains in SE Asia (or the rest of Asia for that matter). How on earth anyone there could eat those shitty burgers when tons of excellent and healthy food are present just about everywhere?

Neat but I think the development vs populace contradiction is evident in 'View from East (current DBD) to West (future CBD)'.

There are some pretty nice parts of Hanoi - the majority of the city is very different than presented in these pics.

the yellow bldg is the Hilton Prison. It doesn't exist in its original size anymore.
